modern western shmups

remember: all bullet hell games are shmups, but not all shmups are bullet hell. there's actually alot more out there than you think.

For what it's worth, I'm a westerner, and I've made some shmups that one or two people liked. Links in my sig.

I'd contribute something other than a shameless plug, but it's hard to think of Western-developed shmups other than Jamestown.

I'll give these a try over the weekend. True that there isn't many western shmups.. or at least there doesn't seem to be. All we get from western developers are twin stick arena shooters.

most western shmups I've come across are indie shmups. like, almost unheard of indie shmups. alot of them used to be sold by reflexive before they stopped distributing other peoples games.

one of my favorites is the Chicken Invaders series. the first one is free, but the rest of them you have to buy.

edit: and when I say modern, I really mean vaguely new. so Tyrian would fall under the catagory, even though it was made before the year 2000.
