Arcades in Las Vegas?

Post by HayakawaKen »

Anyone know of some good ones with decent shmups? I'm going to be leaving on Friday and I want to see if I can hunt a few down.. also, anyone know of any arcade distributors in Vegas?

I don't live there anymore, but I can tell you that the New York New York Hotel/Casino is probably your best bet for shmups. Mars Matrix, Espgaluda, and Raiden Fighters.

Raiden Fighters II and Raiden II are at the Circus Circus' Midway Arcade.

GameWorks (on the strip next to the MGM, accross from the monte carlo) has raiden fighter and a set of dedicated cabinets for retro gaming. (there is a big sign that reads "RETROGAMING"). The cabinet are in woods (!) with Xevious and Space invaders among others.

Other than that its mostly gun shooting BS , and some cool racing game (Daytona USA 2, Initial D3 with dedicated arcade cab).

The place is really huge, on of the biggest I have seen in years.

Last time I was at the New York, New York, someone was on the Mars Matrix machine all the time, the Raiden Fighters machine was messed up (something to do with the monitor it seemed) but the $0.25 per credit Espgaluda machine made everything all better.

Raiden Fighters is the exact same Raiden Fighters as in New York New York. The main differences being that at Gameworks, it's 75 cents a pop for shitty control, while at NYNY you get nice control for only a quarter.

Gameworks is a big place, unfortunately I can't reccomend it. ._.

A while back, a similar forum topic was made (here and here) I gave a quick rundown of what Vegas had to offer in terms of arcading. Nothing's really changed from last August when I moved, hopefully some of the control issues on various machines have been fixed. A few notables:

-The Adventuredome at Circus Circus is where you wanna go if you need a Bemani fix. Best DDR pads in town, GF/DM V, ParaPara 2, and IIDX RED.

-The Rio completely neutered their arcade. Not like it matters anyway, their selection sucked to begin with. Although they should have fixed Wyvern Wings instead of just getting rid of it.

-Buffalo Bill's in Primm is the type of place that sparatically gets new machines, last time I went there they had just put in a nice Strikers 1945 II cab. So there might be some stuff there that piques your interest.

Enjoy your visit there, but by all means don't move there! It sucks! :D
