But yeah, sucks. He had a pretty good track record. I especially liked The Hunger, True Romance, Spy Game and of course Top Gun. Admittedly I haven't seen Top Gun in ~15 years and I'm not sure how well it holds up considering we hate Tom Cruise now and how "Amurrica fuck yeah" it is; then again, it's clearly a cold-war US propaganda hero story featuring Real Men (tm) and not not a movie aiming for any level of realism and shouldn't be judged as such.

There's no question about it. He left two suicide notes and jumped off a bridge.

There is a silver lining about it: Rumor had it he was working on a Top Gun sequel featuring Tom Cruise, which hopefully will be buried with him. In 9 out of 10 cases sequels to movies that weren't created with a sequel in mind suck hard.

Top Gun is probably my favourite mainstream gay film of all time. Very sad loss.

Tony Scott killed himself because he had incurable brain cancer. I would have done the same thing in his position, rather than wait for the slow and painful death.
