Assault Suits Valken PS2 - specific control Qs

Post by BIL »

Looking for two very specific bits of information about the controls in Assault Suits Valken PS2 (not SFC, though knowledge of the SFC game would probably help).

1) Is it true there is no way to lock your aiming direction? In the SFC version, keeping the "hold" button depressed will allow you to keep aiming in a specific direction while moving freely. eg, retreating from an enemy while continuing to fire in its direction.

2) Is it true there is no autofire? Again on the SFC, all guns fire continuously with the shot button depressed.

Thanks for any help, I've sifted through a lot of ambiguous web commentary on the PS2 version's controls. It's inexpensive and supposedly a bit harder than the SFC one, and I'm an AS series fan, so I'm considering it. If the claims of the SFC's superb controls being meddled with are true, though, I'd probably pass.

Don't forget the game has 10 minute long unskippable prologue, fuck that, play the SFC original instead.

I loved the snes verison, perhaps I should check out the ps2 one and I am prepared to be annoyed.....
I´ll get the EU version because of the English language and heck, let´s see if it can be forced to 480p with xploder or gsm.....

edit:
OK, I guess I won´t be trying it after all.....

If only M2 could handle every 16-bit update... how in god's name could anyone think removing the strafe from Valken was a good idea? The answer is probably lodged up their rectum, right next to their brain. :[
