Halloween Deathsmiles Tournament (VideoGameX)
Halloween Deathsmiles Tournament (VideoGameX)
Tournament #1 will involve one of the most challenging horizontal Bullet Hell shooters out there, Deathsmiles. And as the hardest of the hardcore know, satisfaction is served in one credit game servings. Tournaments will be divided into 55 single player slots and up to 3 slots may be purchased per contender. Only the highest score will count towards the competition. All games will be played on maximum difficulty. All entry fees must be paid in full prior to tournament.
The tournament date will be picked by the contenders. The first ten entrees include a vote on which Saturday at noon in September or October the tourney will be held.
1st Place Score: 2 player Egret 3 Candy Cab with Deathsmiles PCB + Genuine Full Size Poster
2nd Place Score: 1 player Egret 3 Candy Cab with Deathsmiles PCB
3rd Place Score: Japanese XB360 with Deathsmiles
Entry Fee: $50 per slot. Sign up in the store or simply pay online. The thread will stay updated with the current list of contenders. Online payments can be made through PayPal gift method only. All payments are non-refundable so make sure you can attend any dates in question before deciding. However, if the minimum isn't met by the week prior to tournament date, all entrees will be refunded.

Re: VideoGameX Deathsmiles Tournament (Huntington Beach, CA)
A cab and a PCB as prizes? This would be excellent for anybody who's actually played Deathsmiles to some degree of seriousness in CA
Re: VideoGameX Deathsmiles Tournament (Huntington Beach, CA)
Ahh... if only I ever played Deathsmiles, I would be all over this. Hmm... maybe I should go pick up the 360 version and get practicing? Only about 2 hours from my house.

Re: VideoGameX Deathsmiles Tournament (Huntington Beach, CA)
This is amazing. How many slots need to be filled before the tournament takes place?
And when you say maximum difficulty, does that mean you set the PCB's settings or does that mean everyone HAS to pick all Level 3s and go through the Canyon?

Re: VideoGameX Deathsmiles Tournament (Huntington Beach, CA)
PCB's will be adjusted to maximum and all contenders must choose Level 3 on each stage.
55 slot minimum is what it takes to make this around 90% self sufficient.
Risk upon risk is what defines the therapeutic values of Bullet Hell shooters, and VideoGameX will continue to take that same residual risk with each and every promotion we offer. Googles business model is something to admire and with a combination of different collaborations which directly includes you, is exactly how VideoGameX will continue to expand for you.

Re: VideoGameX Deathsmiles Tournament (Huntington Beach, CA)
This does virtually nothing in the case of Deathsmiles and a lot of other Cave games, where the dip difficulty switch is more or less irrelevant, and the standard in arcades or elsewhere is default dip switches. Everybody should use full rank 3 anywayJosh wrote:PCB's will be adjusted to maximum

good to see DS in some kind of competition in the US. I'm out of state and have not played vanilla DS in ages. Perhaps I should pick up a controller and start practicing? I would totally join if this was Deathsmiles MBL.

Let's do this online with the same prizes. I've been on the deathsmiles XBL and it's a ghost town.

I you do it online you can't have this - which you shouldn't really anyhow.Josh wrote:PCB's will be adjusted to maximum

Re: Online Deathsmiles Tournament (VideoGameX)

We're going to do something low key this Halloween, but we'll have Deathsmile key chains and limited edition domestic versions available for the winners. Everyone's welcome!EPS21 wrote:Aww sad to hear not gonna happen at this place, I've heard good things about it and was thinking of visiting socal when the tourney would happen. Too bad I don't live closer, otherwise I'd let you guys borrow my MBL board. All contestants playing at 999 would be intense!
