This may have been covered already but whatever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5y18dXv5AE

Starring Erik Estrada as Kung Fu Indiana Jones on a trampoline. Co-starring some villians from Mighty Morphin` Power Rangers. And the Death Star. And some stuff about brains and Islam.

Watched a few minutes of the beginning of the 1986 sci-fi flick of "Land of Doom" with it's low budget Mad Max vibe going on. Has an interesting monochromatic visual montage in the background during the opening credits sequence. The twin flame throwers mounted on a armored vehicle is another cool highlight worth viewing, especially when a baddie (really a stunt man partially on fire) gets burned from the flames.

I suppose it should live here, I just watched Battleship.

I actually really enjoyed it, every minute. I expected a ridiculous action movie and it delivered in spades. When I enjoy a film, I usually poke around to see what reviewers thought of it - I try to avoid them ahead of time. If you go and look for reviews of the film, you'll find them overwhelmingly negative. In fact in most cases they're those tedious self serving hatchet jobs where the writer tries to be as terribly clever as they can. Like many game critics, film critics have forgotten one of the things films are for.

To entertain. I feel sorry for people who can't "unplug their brain" for a minute, and just be entertained. It must be a relentlessly disappointing existence.

I guess some people don't need to unplug their brain to be entertained.

I remember there was a TV series based on Flash around the late 80s-early 90s - any connection? I want to hunt it down now...

Based on Flash the comic character, or based on the Flash Gordon movie? They're totally unrelated. I don't remember such a TV series, so I don't know which one that's based on. Tell me if you find it :D

There was a Flash (as in DC) television series from that era. It was quite poor (as was to be expected).

Just watched a few pretty awful movies. Thankskilling and Chillerama, both grade A B-movie shit. Thankskilling was enjoyable for just how retarded it was, and there were a few moments that gave me a chuckle. Chillerama had way too many dick and jizz jokes for my taste, but I enjoyed the "Diary of Ann Frankenstein" short and the final battle at end of the movie with the endless one liners from seemingly random movies was good for a laugh.
Feedback will set you free.

The Apparition. Was showing at the local movies recently. The moment whatever that was haunting them appeared, I knew it was going to be a B-flick (budget flick)

Yes, it was The Flash - I lost a word somehow.

I rather enjoyed the first episode of this, actually. Bonus points if you can spot the Blues Brothers reference (hint: Okudagram!)

The speed effect ranges from really awful to serviceable. The pilot, which is all I've seen so far, introduces way too much at once and seems to treat many characters as completely expendable.

It reminds me of Darkman a bit. Darkman's comic moments were laden with pathos, which made it more memorable in that area - along with all the others, of course - that let you feel a bit guiltier at coming to laugh. SEE THE DANCING FREAK! The Flash is much more willing to laugh at itself, but it does seem a bit easy at times. I need to see some Supes TV sometime: '88 cartoon, '93 romance series, '96 cartoon by Bruce Timm and co. of Batman: TAS fame.

It also has me wondering about some other Pet Fly productions, like The Sentinel and Human Target (the last also based on a comics character, and a rather interesting premise).

At Ed: Oh man, if your'e suggesting Lois and Clark, please spare yourself. If you are any sort of Superman fan (or superhero fan in general), you will be gravely offended by that bullshit.

Most of the scenes in the show could easily be swapped out with scenes from any generic TV series and you wouldn't know the difference.

If you really want to see Supes at his best, the newer animated series is the way to go, as well as Justice League Unlimited. If constant fight scenes with bone crushing impact FX interlaced with intelligent, cerebral plot lines that quite often span other worlds and dimensions is your thing, then my advice is to check them out.

Rubber was pretty crazy for being both high brow & low brow (in overall concept/execution) at the same time. One unsuspecting gal is taking a shower and yet, she falls victim to the wrath of the telepathic tire (despite the backside of her hourglass figure showing, we never get to see her full frontal view -- perhaps it's best left to the imagination on the director's part).
