Recording in MAME's not that bad but I don't see why they'd make it mandatory to record (thus screwing people playing in a cab, etc). I've been trying to record a 1CC of DDP2 cause the only one on YT's credit feeds and is missing the TLB, but MAME desyncs the recording if you ever have to pause, so basically you have to sit and record it in one go arcade style (and only one extra extend in the entire game, gawd). It's not like the tourney is that serious, it's more about everyone being motivated to improve their personal scores. Cheating ruins the accomplishment anyways.

Ok, I forgot I had bashed together a machine with my old parts that will be perfectly good for SGTGTGGGTGTGTGjonny5 wrote:You seem to have bad luck with computers. Make sure to give me a nudge when this thing starts, or I will likely forget. It's not in off topic, after all.
I hope they pick Paperboy!
Oh also, anything happening this weekend?
Re: jonny5 meet pt. 87 TORONTO, CANADA- Jully 14/12*probably
Nope. It will be next weekend.
Re: jonny5 meet pt. 88 TORONTO, CANADA- Aug. 4/12
Hope you ladies can make it out for Aug.4th.
Weather permitting, might make it a split, games till 4 or something and then hit the beach again.
Let me know if it's no good, and if enough people can't make it might reschedule.

Ah, I'm going camping in Algonquin for a week starting on the 4th. I'll be back the next weekend but don't know if I'll be able to make it to a meet. I'll probably be sick of the beach by then anyhow.

I don't really mind which, they're all good. Strikers 1999 I don't have much experience with outside of playing it at an airport in Calgary before a flight. Speaking of which, I'm off out west tomorrow to visit family, but will have the chance to get some scores in on laptop for the STGT.

Doesn't matter to me. Which one shoot I vote for?

How is everybody doing on strikers 99?
I'm pooping it up. Played a few credits last night, made it to the 3rd stage a couple times with around 250000.
I haven't played any Psikyo in so long.
Also, what ship are you using? I started with the stealth, but it was too slow, and switched to the super hornet(?).

Gotta use the X-36. Go into test menu, maintenance mode and enter "01999" as the code to unlock it, then at the ship select go to the random option and hold UP to select it.jonny5 wrote:How is everybody doing on strikers 99?

I think I can hit around 400k without much practice. I haven't had a chance to really play it this week, been crazy busy.

Cool, will give it a go tonight.
The game is brutal hard. Seems as soon as I die and lose my powerups I'm pretty much fucked.
I only ever really played Strikers 1 and 2, and even those I haven't touched in years.

K hopefully I'll get some time in tonight and tomorrow, then hopefully get some decent scores on Saturday.

Same. Had band practice last night so didn't have time to try out this X-36 ship.
Will get in some credits tonight.

Oh, right, this is on already! I should have time to put in a few credits before I go camping. It's too bad I don't have all weekend to play, I love Strikers... I'm so tempted to bring my laptop with me.

derp
Yeah I know you've got it running on MAME, I just figured this way we could have two setups going.
XM29 yes that's what I meant ... XCM is ... something else I dunno lol
And camping yes take the laptop. Practice lots and score big!
I'm just gonna sit quietly here at my desk now ... I gotta bring the DOA4 stick back in so I can actually get something accomplished when I'm here by myself. Otherwise I just shitpost

I've got an NES that should be working, just got contact cleaner and swabs a week before, had meant to clean out my older consoles for some gaming. Remind me for the next meet when I should be back in town and I'll bring it (along with the NES Life Force and Jackal ports, fuck yeah awesome).
Reminds me, I've got a busted SNES. Dad accidentally stepped on the back of it a few years ago, now the power cord needs to sit in it just right to power on. A little wriggle and it disconnects.
also holy crap, strikers is tough as nails

You can find as-is / broken units on eBay very easily and cheap that you could use for parts and rebuild it!BareknuckleRoo wrote:Reminds me, I've got a busted SNES. Better. Stronger. Faster.

I did basically exactly this, because I had gotten one with a yellow top section but a perfectly fine bottom. So I grabbed another one that had a broken power connector and used the top half from it. It wasn't as simple as it could have been, as they were actually two different revisions - I wasn't sure which one I should keep the internals in! I think I ended up using the smaller board since I figured it was newer, but the purists here would probably say the older ones are better or more easy to mod or something.
The other option is cutting off the plug from the power cord and soldering directly to the motherboard.

Re: jonny5 meet pt. 88 TORONTO, CANADA- Aug. 4/12
I could probably do the soldering bit, but I don't have much experience pulling apart/repiecing hardware. Apparently you can buy replacement backs for the SNES, but they're soldered to the board directly, so either way I'd have to do some soldering I think.
also you guys better be working on strikers scores, cause I'm only up to 1-6 so far ._.

Roo I think you got us all beat on Strikers ... nobody today broke 400k
Brendz man you must have gotten soaked on the way home. I waited it out and after about 10 mins it was basically done raining. Got a bit wet obviously but overall it was fine.
Cody I forgot to get that book off you
