Thanks! Yeah the rank gets pretty brutal after a while, my technique is to no miss till about halfway through stage 5, wait til I'm surrounded by power ups and then suicide. Playing with twin lazer helps greatly as well (it's this realisation that enabled me to finally clear it).

Decided to just mess around with this a bit after all the Salamander for the shooting game tournament and ended up clearing it on my very first try Seems a lot tighter than Salamander to me even though its mostly the same game.

Not a big fan of the game, too much memorization required and the pacing of the stages is a bit weird / counter intuitive too.

Only thing that upsets me in this game is that you are obliged to play second time every time to play it, in order to survive lvl 4 boss (as the orbs won't clutter the screen by that time)

This boss is totally weird. I only beat that guy with an exploit, whn you go close to the ceiling the orbs of the left turret will get stuck in the walls. Don't know about the second time trick.

The 100k trick in stage 4 put me past the second extend and gave me the extra life I needed to finally 1cc this. (There's like a snowball effect in this game. When you get points you get more points.) This is my second ever arcade shooter 1cc!

Died fighting the Brain Golem trying to do the trick again. So close.

I hate rank as a mechanic and the voodoo it inspires. At one point I was trying to score as low as possible because I heard a rumor that score affected rank.

Finally, 1 credit clear on Salamander 2 after six years since buying Salamander Portable. I also managed to find a way to kill the Brain Golem at Stage 1 quickly, just by bringing 2 options, though the Super Cobra has a higher chance of obtaining it at the start of the game.
