Speaking as someone who went into it on a pure whim, lemme say the one thing that this show really could have benifited from: fanservice. Lots and lots of it, all over the place. It's like they fucking hated their viewers by not showing a single pantyshot or bounce while they were in zero gravity, goddamn. ಥ_ಥ
I was a bit surprised as well, a concious choice to make it more "family friendly" maybe?

Not sure what network/time slot it airs in in Japan, but also could be the source material? Presumably it's based on a manga.

Angel Densetsu is one of the most unique comedy manga I've read in a while:
The story is of Kitano Seiichirou, a very kind and pure-hearted young man, with a horrifying, monstrous face. People being what they are, they think he's a terrifying delinquent, and there are plenty of chance misunderstandings (coupled with Kitano's convenient inability to understand what's happening around him) that propel him into the position of "school guardian", a.k.a. head thug on campus.

There's a really high attention to detail in those (say when it shows the Genom factory robots at the start of 3 (Blow Up) and it shows the highlights on them from sparks etc.), it just makes everything feel so much more alive or something. Also obviously the Knight Sabers themselves are highlighted/shinied (!) so well, there's that scene where literally all you see is a highlight going across one of their helmets and it's just so well done, couple that with a great story and incredible music and I don't know, I'm just blown away by Bubblegum Crisis overall.
You will share these wallpapers here, I hope.

Just finished BGC... agreed with xbl0x that it really starts hitting its stride around episode 5. The whole series was great fun (especially the "demon car" Griffon!) but the stakes felt higher in 5-7. 7's prologue is incredible, just when the simmering tension seems to have disappeared it fucking explodes. Urushihara is credited in its titles as "Urushibara," haha.

Pleasantly surprised to hear Kaneto Shiozawa again in Cyber City Oedo, as Benten. Guy's voice was unmistakable.

That's because it's 7zip format.

Do people still use WinRAR? Don't you get sick of the nag screens?? 7-zip is free and will open zip, rar, 7z and about a dozen other archive formats that you will probably never come across.

yep it is 7Zip - I set it to Ultra which was probably stupid as obviously it never really makes a difference to JPEGs - I probably should have just used 'store'

I actually OWN WinRAR and I still haven't reinstalled since my last OS reinstall. I just use 7Zip now

I have buckets of MSG grabs too, mainly Zeta and Unicorn. Also have: Eva Rebuilds, plus Ideon: Be Invoked, Venus Wars, Patlabor OVAs, TV and Patlabor II Movie (which has REALLY nice cinematography/scenerely/wallpapery stuff IMO) - theres other stuff too but I cant rememeber atm - 2,556 in total :o.

I've just realised I don't have any Gunbuster or Royal Space Force ones done yet! Have to get onto that

I'm obsessed with taking screenshots, I just love them, it takes me ages to get through Mass Effect or Fallout 3 etc. cause I keep on going back on scenes and taking screenies. Now with anime I often have to do 2 passes - one for wallpapers and one for making animGIFs, which I also enjoy a lot, but is pretty time consuming really when looked at rationally o_O.

Thanks Raytrace! I got my hands on the series, and while the first half of episode one I was concerned because it was slow, things picked up after the machines went mad. The show has promise. :) That is without a doubt one of the best opening themes for any anime, up there with Chrono Crusade, Evangelion, and Berserk (though the intro visuals for Berserk are kinda cheesy, barring of course the burning flower).

np - yes it is an amazing series, and while Xblox180 may wince at me even comparing these two, I actually think I even prefer 'Mad Machine' to 'Cruel Angel's Thesis'...

Hm, I bought a box set of Chrono Crusade, but I have not seen it yet... that was a bold statement. There are few openings I'd compare to BGC, maybe GunBuster or some other late 80s mecha OAV 8)

Most underrated OP.

The song made it into Konami's Dance Maniax series as a cheesy techno version with different English lyrics.

It's the great violin playing that seals the deal for me.
Hm, I bought a box set of Chrono Crusade, but I have not seen it yet... that was a bold statement. There are few openings I'd compare to BGC, maybe GunBuster or some other late 80s mecha OAV.
I was strictly speaking of opening songs, not openings in general.
Then I came here and saw rad anime being compared to Evangina
 The only thing that is overtly feminine about Eva is the pathetic main protagonist. There is some heavy shit in that show that alienates it from many female animu fanz who are more attracted to googly-eyed chibi girls, episodes that copy the same formula ad nauseum with no variation whatsoever, Pocky product placement, and androgynous looking men with deep voices in their anime instead of raw action and intricate story development.

Heavy stuff:

-Killing a child with your bare hands out of jealousy, then yourself.
-An entire army killing NERV personnel, unprejudiced against age, innocence, or gender.
-Achieving the successful self annihilation of an entire species for insane "higher" purposes.
-A narcissistic father who strives to meet his own goals, while treating his only son --who is a great deal responsible for helping him to meet these goals-- like shit.
-Psychological turmoil inherited from the heat of battle on 14 year old kids.
-Etc.

Wussy stuff:

Shinji

EDIT:
Drauch, that opening is awesome!
