Mesh Control, have you heard Sigh's cover of Under The Runes? I tend to prefer early Bathory to anything after Blood Fire Death (in fact, I tend to lose interest entirely at that point), but this is acebest.
Yeah, I agree on Bathory. Under the Sign of the Black Mark is one of my favorite albums. Sigh is pretty crazy. I gave them a listen a couple of years ago and couldn't really get into it, yet at the same time I kinda appreciated it. Pretty wacky stuff.

It sure is! Sigh are one of my favourite bands. I think the easiest stuff to get into is probably on Imaginary Sonicscape, if you fancy giving it a listen. It's just a fun, slightly 'psychedelic' rock album.

(Just be aware that the re-release removes all of the lead guitars from Bring Back The Dead, for some reason. Has some good extra tracks on it, though. ;))

You don't want to live with me. You'll have to live with conservative parents and listen to twee :3

Divisions broke up 2 years ago. (wow, time flies.)
Church Whip is more or less the same band, but Carson; the drummer of Div., plays bass now and Dave from Cult Ritual/too many other bands plays drums. New 7" is supposed to be out soon.
Evan; the guitarist, plays in a black metal band called Horrid Cross which is pretty good too.

I'm going to keep bumping this thread as I work through my back catalog of records. Not even my favorites, but what the hell.

Anthony Braxton - Five Pieces 1975
The A side bored me and I wasn't sure if the B side would pull me out of this caffeine crash. Glad I was wrong, B side is great.
First exposure to Braxton's work.

STORY TIME BECAUSE I'M MANIC TODAY.
I was listening to Battles (Braxton's son played in Battles) when I was 16 and had to give a friend a ride somewhere. He brought along some jock that was always an asshole to me. So basically, Atlas was playing and my friend was asking about my vegetarianism, the jock decided it was appropriate to tell me real men eat meat and proceed to punch me in the gut while I'm driving. Then say this is nigger music. Fast forward 4 year, same jock crashes on I-80 with a bunch of meth in his trunk and dies. I laughed so hard, it was a good day. For some reason the people he picked on went to his funeral and were crying.

Joe Baiza and the Universal Congress of
Yawn. I love Saccharine Trust, but this is tasteless.

Erkin Koray - Mechul
Collection of singles and unreleased stuff. I only have a bunch of random Koray mp3s and it's probably for the best, that way I don't have to filter through the garbage. Turkish psych isn't even that hard to find anymore. There's been tons of overpriced reissues, like this one.

D.Vassalotti - Book of Ghost
Awkward indie rock or something. I like it a lot. Dave rules.

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works vol2
Yes, it sounds amazing. It's a stupid listen to on vinyl since it's 3 goddamn LPs

Scientist - ...Meets the Space Invaders
Dub scares the shit out of me.

bumping this again, sorry.

So, I'm searching around for some Vangelis mp3s and I found something better....

http://thegrowingbin.blogspot.com/2012/ ... tapes.html

Apparently this doctor filmed several spinal surgeries and Vangelis composed music for each operation.
I've never heard of this, thought I should share.

Meddlesome Meddlesome Meddlesome Bells - Worried Land

Doomy psych/folk. I went to high school with a few of the members, but never really listened to them 'til recently and they're awesome. Their stuff is available as pay-what-you-want (otherwise known as free) downloads from their site here. This is probably my favorite description of the band...
"Try and imagine Peter, Paul and Mary ingesting handfulls of downers, freaking out on Sabbath and being hired by some gothic Romanian church to sing funeral dirges."
Feedback will set you free.

After a disaster brewing yesterday, I spent today cleaning my place, listening to Miles Davis Get Up With It. What a great reward for making a mess the previous day.

I remember when this was on teevee back in '88. I was in love with this girl:

She couldn't coordinate to the pre-recorded, cheezopop song if her life depended on it, but to look like that is a talent in itself 8)

Jesus christ, why have I never listened to Dinosaur Jr.?
or Rudimentary Peni?! fuck. I spent too much time in listening to forgettable 90's hardcore in high school v_v
I can't recall listening to anything relevant from 2009-beginning of 2012. Just a big blank space filled with MBV & Slowdive & sad music.
2009 is also the year I lost my soul.

I miss the chaos of older Dinosaur Jr stuff sometimes, but the last two albums were pretty damn good, and I love the Lou Barlow tracks especially. Looking forward to I Bet on Sky.

It was repressed recently. There are someother represses that are coming out soon (if they don't repress it now the label loses the rights or something), but the first selected ambient works isn't among them.

I'm going to hit up a bunch of thrift stores tomorrow in search of a decent rack. I have a crappy amp with no headphone input.

Also listening to Swans' Filth and Cop, again. Later/newer stuff is a bit too expansive for my taste. Looking forward to seeing them in September.

This is the grateful dead album for people (like me) who don't entirely like the grateful dead (although I imagine fans will enjoy it too.) This is the punderphonics rendering of Dark Star, using dozens or is it hundreds? of clips together to create two ultimate disc long versions of this venerated improv track.

I've tried to do the whole Dead thing, listening to dozens of hours of live tapes, but ultimately gave up on it. Here the grateful dead are transformed into the ultimate psychedelic jam band without actually turning them into anything they weren't. It's an incredible tribute and an amazing treat for those of us who don't want to put up with all the other crap.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mauI-AZJHc0
(by no means the best track off the album)
