mame_slowpoke_edition/J-PAC/15k Monitor .......problem

Post by s8n »

hi shmups members , im having a problem with a particular emulator ..........mame_slowpoke_edition. As most of you know its a Cave SH3 mame with tweaks to make it run faster , the problem is at the mame game select screen. To me it looks like the Resolution is too great for my 15k Arcade Monitor with my J-PAC , i need to successfully change the Res to 320X240.

If anyone knows how to fix this please do , i think it lies somewhere in the mame config file ive posted it below.

someone correct me if i'm wrong but afaik you still need soft15khz or an extron emotia to correctly use it with a j-pac.

or does everything else work correctly and only the menu of slowpoke doesn't work ?

You need to enable low res output from your PC (soft15 or ArcadeVGA card for instance) or use a scan convertor as suggested above.

A J-PAC is only an interface device in reality.

Off the top of my head.... Turn hardware stretch off. Resolution should be set by each game ini file as well, for resolution changes.

Can you clarify this a bit? The slowpoke build is command-line only, so which game select screen are you referring to?

The other thing you could try (no idea if it will make any difference), is specifying the resolution for "resolution0" and "resolution1" as well.

You only need to set one resolution.

ah ok -- what happens if you launch it with a game?

You'll have to run it from a command prompt, with something like:

"mame mushisam"

(or whatever game you want to run, just specify the rom set name, the ones on the left in your screenshot)

It should then launch the game with the correct resolution set?

I have made a shortcut to boot ' mushisama ' and have also edited my mame.ini file as below.............

ive tested with hwstretch 1 and some of the screen is cutoff on the right side , and with hwstretch 0 its a tiny screen that looks to be running in 480i mode it flickers a lot.

hwstretch must be set to 0!

If you're getting a smaller video screen you are not selecting a proper resolution available for the game you're running and what you gfx card is capable of displaying.

To be sure you're getting the proper resolution for a game, you need to be using gameromname ini files.
