God knows HOW long on GigaWing. Probably about 60-70 hours.

A little more than 30 hours on Trizeal, in the first month! Then I stopped playing. 8D

The shooter i've practiced on the most was s1945II, easily 150 hours. But that was mainly spread over 6months. (played for 3 months, stopped then started playing again) Im not into mammoth gaming sessions. After 1hrs play i need a break for at least an hour, i seem to just lose interest and after an hour i start playing sloppy and need a breather.

On R-Type... dunno, but I'd guess 50+. Was addicted to the Spectrum version upon it's release, ploughed a lot of time into the C64 version when I switched machines, started again with the Amiga version, and then on to MAME/PS1 R-Types. Been playing it quite constantly since it's release, and still only 1cc'd the thing a handful of times.

I'd guess around 20 hours each for DonPachi, DoDonPachi and Giga Wing 2, and Shiki 2 is rapidly gaining play time.

So far I guess the <50 hours people are more fans of old school shooters?
no way. 15 years with Raiden I+II should speak for themselves.
Thats a little hard for me to say, as I don't count time by the "hours". I judge it by years.
same here.

Silvergun I'm in about 27 hrs but I can see me hitting 50-100 hrs over this year.

Ikaruga played about 25 hours, but i have spent most of it on stage 4! must get back to the old girl, try and chain some more.

sadly, i have never dedicated myself to any one shmup. so my biggest clock probably hovers around 15-20 hours (this is probably ESPgaluda or Dodonpachi). problem is none of this has been "dedicated" play, so my performance is still rubbish. :?
I have no sig whatsoever.

I've only been into shooters for some two years or so, and only really dedicated for about six months. Going off of my memory of the total time logs on my memory cards, here's my breakdown, more-or-less:

Gradius IV (PS2): 34 hours
Gradius III (PS2): 27 hours
Gradius V: 31 hours
R-Type Final: 14 hours
Shikigami no Shiro 2 (PS2): 12 hours

Ikaruga, Gradius Gaiden, and several others are distributed across so many memory cards that I can't gauge an accurate total, but it's probably between 15-20 hours apiece...mostly 2-player mode.

Of course, if you count non-shmups, I've easily got over 200 hours apiece in Doom, Castlevania: SotN, and Alien Vs. Predator for the Jaguar.

I also have no idea...

But I think the shmup I most played is Aleste 2 (MSX)... I've finished it more than 50 times for sure....

100+ easily on both Parodius Da (been playing since '92) and Oshaberi Parodius (average run 1hr+). I'd rather not think about what the actual amounts for each game are..

Gradius 2, 3 and Gaiden must easily be over 20 hours as well.

About 20 hours with Armed Police Batrider (1CC'd it after 7 hours, raised my score with a half a million after another 5, no progress after that).

About 50 hours of Garegga. I'm stuck at this one, just can't seem to get any further.

Layer Section. I dont' know, a lot of time. Maybe 50 too.

In terms of consistence, 300 hours or something on Border Down, over 1 year and 4 routes (but easily 150 on D route). Other titles are surely at 100+. I wouldn't consider the extra hours on random plays are truly worthwhile, to some extent. At any case, i'd also about 250 hours on Rayforce and Raystorm.

Not a pretender, i suppose (hence, no  from me ), but not an asocial though, i go out and socialize, i swear :?

I'm not antisocial. Most of my playtime is spent in the hours between midnight and 4am, which is after work and before bed. I socialise any other time I have available.

I did too. And I don't mind being a pretender FOR NOW. I mean, have I really earned the right to be anything else?

That's a fallacy. I'm a hermit and I'm still shit.*

I'm not one of these people who keeps track of the time either, but I have around 100 hours on Ikaruga and R-Type Final. Bizarre really, I'm not especially fond of either of them. I'm not sure if many others have clocks that I could check. Lately I spend most of my time on MAME (teh thief)!

Been playing Gradius 2 and 3 fairly regularly for well over a decade, so I think we'd be talking about 300-400 hours there (each? Scary thought). Recently I've spent a few weekends playing Tatsujin 2, Shikigami no Shiro 2 , DonPachi, Change Air Blade and Psyvariar, probably about 15 hours each there...

I'm probably forgetting all of the games that I really spend time with, because I have a head like a sieve. Sorry!

Hmm... my mame install doesn't seem to have recorded anytime for me.

Do you have to be using the GUI for it to work? (which would explain it for me as I use a front end).

I'd really like to know how much time I've put into some of the games.

I think by the time I reached 55 hours counter in TFV I was able to reach the end boss at master difficulty without losing continues...

that one and Super Alester were the ones that grabbed me the most.

Of course, lots and lots of hours at R-Type Final, but just for unlocking purposes and not in legit ways...

i've got 30+ hours clocked into Ikaruga.

also, 40+ hours in R-Type Final.

also, (might as well mention it, even though it's not a shmup) 50+ hours clocked into Chaos Legion. (needless to say, everything is maxed out. EVERYTHING.) and 30+ hours in Fatal Frame. (insert the same parenthesis-enclosed comment here)

110 on ikaruga.

100-ish on DDP. (My MAME says 60, but on all computers ever, probably 90-100)

About 45 on Gradius V. I need to play this game again. Its been too long

Hi all,

I don't know why but most of shmups bore me exactly at 17h. The most I played for a shooter is 37h for Radiant. Otherwise I own too much shmups (IMO) to play them competitively.

I think my playtime will be crushed with Mushi though.
