So, the preliminary week choices. Had a nice suggestion (courtesy of KennyMan) to randomize the order of the weeks and not reveal it until the time comes. I like the idea, it's fun and removes the possibility of pre-training the week games too extensively.
Popular Series Week: Battle Bakraid (Eighting); Strikers 1999 (Psikyo); Raiden Fighters 1 (Seibu).
Hori Week: R-Type Leo (Irem); Salamander 2 (Konami); Black Heart (NMK).
Cave Week: Ketsui; DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou BL; Espgaluda.
Toaplan Week: Batsugun; Hishouzame; V-V.
Doujin Week (don't worry, they play cross-platform): Cho Ren Sha; Mystic Square; Super Star Shooter.
By no means completely set in stone, at least until Monday rolls around.
Calling RF1/Salamander 2/Ketsui/Batsugun/Mystic Square, even though I'd only vote for one of these, and would do a lousy job at scoring in it to top it off.
Interesting choices. I'm particularly intrigued by BlackHeart. Never heard of it before, let alone played it and would be quite happy to see it come up in STGT. After all this should be about games we never get to play, not games we all know well.
And Boo to Cave week. I'm happy they're all available on Mame now, but playing DOJ or Espgaluda for score with only a week to work on it is not at all to my fancy. Ketsui is doable. Either way I hope this week is the week I'm not playing.

We can't play DOJ-BL or Ketsui because they have standalone ports on a current gen console. Cave have cleaned a lot of dumps off the net, it'll lead to ROM begging and general twattishness. I know most people will already have the ROMs or even the port knocking around, but it's pretty bad form and doesn't reflect well on the community. YEAH?
The ports have been around for over two years (three for DOJ) and are already gone from the primary market. Similarly, the ROMs have been around since late 2010, are easily available, and run full-speed on very weak machines. The initial hype has died down by this point, so I really don't see the problem.

Like alot have said I dont think DOJ and Ketsui are a good choise for just a week of play.
This aint no complain but I think Battle Bakraid, DOJ and Ketsui should be change to other games.
Other then that I think game choise are real good, even if I don't like Salamander and have already played R-Type Leo in a Swedish STG Tourney

Actually I think MX7 has a point there. Especially with DOJ as it's recently had an iOS release. I know it's not quite the same, but it is an in-market, cash-generating product for Cave.

How is Galuda less bad for one week than Ketsui or DOJ? Just because it's a piss easy clear? Everyone gets a 30M ALL and goes home happy despite not making it to the weekly top 50?
