I'd like to hear your argument for this. I've played the dumped arcade version and I feel pretty strongly the opposite way.The first Otomedius only managed 21 pages and it's the better of the two.

From the time I spent with it before selling it, which was brief, it's easier, duller, the bosses are bland, as are the attack patterns. Don't get me wrong, Otomedius G is a totally average game, I wouldn't recommend either, but the sequel is unbelievably boring unless you have the ability to spank off during play, which considering the amount of on-screen bullets, is probably quite feasible.Op Intensify wrote:I'd like to hear your argument for this. It's also a husk of a game engineered to rinse money from virginal gamers around the pretense of sex and musical fan service. The 99 loops are a sadist joke - anyone who can't see Konami saying "I can't believe you dumb fucks bought two of these" by throwing the challenge out there to see if anyone turns to stone in the process, doesn't have all their dogs barking.
If you like to see big titted sluts flying about as little polygons and then spend all your wages on buying them dresses, sure, get Otomedius and its sequel. If you want to play a good shmup, buy something else.

I asked for a comparison of the two, not just what you hated about Excellent.
See, this proves that you kind of don't know what you're talking about. Past the first couple of stages, Excellent's bullet count on Expert mode is quite dense, especially when considering your huge hitbox. The thing you should have pointed to that invalidates much (but not all) of the game's difficulty is the huge amount of invincibility time granted with every hit to your shield. If the game's shield system worked just like in Gradius, and the Bursts weren't available, the difficulty on Expert would be close to Gradius V.but the sequel is unbelievably boring unless you have the ability to spank off during play, which considering the amount of on-screen bullets, is probably quite feasible.

And that it throws power ups at you like they're going out of fashion, so you can be primed for a shield regeneration for most of the game.Op Intensify wrote: The thing you should have pointed to that invalidates much (but not all) of the game's difficulty is the huge amount of invincibility time granted with every hit to your shield.
I haven't played either of them in ages, so I'm not going to be good for analysis. I do have a full review for Excellent from not too long after its release, but I'm not sure if I'm in a position to publish it here (I'll think about it.)
They're both poor, but I found the second less inspired than the first, which is still on my shelf, relatively untouched.
Gah, can't believe I'm discussing Otomedius! :X

Re: Konami brings Otomedius Excellent (Xbox 360) to U.S.
They get increasingly more scarce after Stage 3, and there's barely any in the boss rush. You'll also often have to go without a shield regen in stock if you want to level up your weapons, which is the only way to reliably kill many of the bosses before they time out.And that it throws power ups at you like they're going out of fashion, so you can be primed for a shield regeneration for most of the game.
I found Gorgeous to have less inspired stage design, graphics mediocre by Dreamcast standards, and completely inconsequential difficulty. 1CC'd it on my second try. Excellent's nowhere near that bad on Expert. There's also the nonsensical touch pad gimmick (an obvious excuse to sell that uber-expensive stick), and grinding for elements (in Excellent they're just bonus points).

I thought the bosses in Excellent were even more bland, and the backgrounds generally darker and less colourful bar the odd exception. That's discounting the tit count in the character portraits. In Excellent you grind for power ups iirc, which is still a useless side-pursuit. Gorgeous is, as I said, also a duffer, and the touchpad controller wasn't a requirement to play the game, it was just an utterly superfluous gimmick for masturbators to spend more money on. Although you can still sexually abuse the Excellent girls at the selection screen with the mouse cursor (can't remember if that was a secret or a standard feature).
This conversation, like this game, doesn't really warrant my time or yours.
Can't comment on that, didn't play anything except defaults. I'm sure a higher bullet count would improve the challenge, but I seriously don't think it deserves that kind of attention.Excellent's nowhere near that bad on Expert.

The original company don't deserve, nor are entitled to anything from used sales. They got their money the first time round when the product was sold. That's how the rest of the world works.Op Intensify wrote:That's internet communication for you.I should have put /sarcasm at the end of my last post, apparently.
Actually, there is. It's the only way to make money off of used sales. Kind of a necessary evil. There's no excuse for not putting the whole thing on the disc.
Anyway, it's simply costing them original NEW sales instead, as I've said in many other posts, try pulling this shit off, and I don't buy your game, period. Same with some of the ridiculous anti-piracy methods on PC games.
I'm not pirating anything, I have no interest in doing that either, I'm just not parting with my cash to support such ridiculous consumer-shafting schemes, I'll go without.
I will happily pay full retail price for a *complete* boxed game including previously released DLC on the disc, and available from the off with no strings attached. As I said, amazing how many people DON'T want my money these days.

The problem with not getting money from used sales stems directly from the fact that we, as consumers, will not buy expensive game consoles, but reasonably priced game consoles lose money. So the manufacturer has to make money to supplement the FUCKING LOSS they are taking on the console because we won't buy it otherwise. You better believe that out of the 440 MSP that "Konami" Sells each music pack for this game for, they're not seeing nearly as much of that as Microsoft is. I'd imagine at this point there's more pressure on the studios and publisher to make DLC for the purposes of making the console manufacturer money than there is pressure on the studios to try and squeeze more money out of a game.

Panties in a twist? Whatever next. I forgot it was you who spent the entire beginning of this thread whining at anyone who suggested Otomedius was lacklustre. I also forgot it was you who spent his afternoon freezeframing a trailer to write this write crap up:dieKatze88 wrote:This is what I've heard out of you in every discussion about Otomedius:

Otomedius Excellent (X) changes:
Note: all changes are beyond “Gorgeous” versions – since Konami is apparently trying to forget the arcade version existed.
Overall: Character design is slightly “Softer”
Change in sleeves, topped with “G” Organization logo instead of the gigantic frills.
Confirmed: Rear ends are actually covered by something that’s the same color as their outfits! OMG!
The big one: Emon 5 is just gone. Presumably replaced by either Kokoro Belmont or that new chick in pink.
System and core: I didn’t see any scan lines in the trailer. Odd.
Aoba Anoa: slightly larger chest. Brighter shade of blue overall – Really noticeable on the Eyes. Change to necktie, significantly shorter.
Erul Tron: Much of the same as Anoa, larger chest, bright blue eyes all of the sudden, although necktie length did not change.
Diol Twee: She’s much softer. Chest got larger (somehow). Her butt and thighs got huge in comparison to what they were in the last iteration of the game. In the trailer she’s playing with her… ahem… Tentacle. Something she hasn’t done before. Her hair is wavier.
Madoka: GLOVES! She now has twinbee’s Iconic gloves! Shorts instead of the skirt!
Tita Nium: Slightly larger chest (Seeing a TREND here.) She’s shown in the trailer playing with her tuft of nonconforming hair. Wind does not usually blow that way, she’s doing that. Bigcore System eye patch seems less detailed – may be a video effect. The Blue Green color she used to have seems to have shifted more to blue. Might also be a video effect.
Esmerelda: Eyes got bigger. So she no longer is the ONLY Character in the entire game with normal sized eyes. Chest is also bigger… what else is new. Also a bigger butt. Tie is longer – extends into cleavage. She no longer has this look of extreme disapproval on her face in the trailer. Honestly she’s kinda cute now.
Poini Coon: Eye color changed. Brighter. She however is the 2nd exception to the chest expansion rule – just as flat as ever.
Administrator: Very slight – if any.

at least I admit it.
Also I did that at work, while there was nothing else to do. Boredom is fun.
Also, who's the dumb one here, the rest of us for buying a sequel to a game we enjoyed, and ended up enjoying it, or you, someone who bought a sequel to a game they hated, and ended up hating it. Go shit on someone else's thread.

So you're the reason Konami made this trash instead of a new Gradius/Parodius.
Also, nobody's "shitting on your thread". He just didn't like the fucking game, get over it you butthurt little geek.

It's only useless if you don't care about killing the bosses and testing out new weapon configurations, in which case, why are you even playing the game? The cards are a lot less grindy than the element jewels, you get them once and you're done. They're often hidden in clever locations or inside difficult enemies/boss parts. I do wish that you could get them all in the first loop though. In Excellent you grind for power ups iirc, which is still a useless side-pursuit.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.Fucking nerd.
I'm hardly an apologist for DLC milking, but with game development costs having skyrocketed in recent years, it's often the only way a publisher can be convinced that a game is going to turn a profit. This is pure conjecture, but I'd guess that Konami told the Otomedius team that they'd only greenlight Gorgeous and Excellent for the 360 if they made tons of DLC. I'd rather the game have DLC than not be released at all. Also, what I hate more than anything, and almost always refuse to buy, is on-disc DLC. Otomedius doesn't have that.
