Senryu no Densetsu/Senryuu Densetsu - Forthcoming arcade STG

Post by Mero »

This news has been around for a while now but I don't think it's a repost on here, I couldn't find anything.

New arcade shooter, made by I'm not sure whom but seemingly published by a company called Noi.

Information on the game in English seems non-existant at the moment but here's a link with some information. There's also this thread on 2ch if anyone wants to sift through that.

Here's a video. Looks a bit like Sengoku Blade.

That first boss takes forever to kill.

Seems like there's a bullet reflect mechanism and some kind of temporal dodge when your character splits into 3. Also looks like China from the art - Romance of the Three Kingdoms shmup?

Looks like Noi developed the infamous h game koihime musou. VN devs doing shmups, that's an odd trend.

Vid looks mediocre at best. For a game borrowing Sengoku blaede's aesthetics they could sure do with more Psikyo influence w/r/t stage and boss pacing.

You got my hopes up, but damn it seems to be really boring. Few and slow bullets that can be canceled, and extremely long boss battles where nothing happens... yawn.

Was that a reference to 5pb? Maybe programmers can only create virtual novels for so long, before it pushes them over the edge and the urge to destroy stuff takes over.

Oh man.. I almost fell asleep watching that video. Long slow boss battles... huge screen with slow moving bullets.

Who is the target audience for this game?
Espgaluda III needs to happen.

JPY448000 (says on the bottom of the TV, can only assume thats the retail price?)

lol

looks awful in every aspect, KOF skystage territory, hope its a really early demo.

Looks like this is another one of those really inexplicable arcade releases that goes completely ignored, like Jingi Storm, Dynamite Deka EX, Shin Koihime Musou: Arcade Edition, Daemon Bride, or anything that came out for the Atomiswave not made by Arc or SNK Playmore.

The developers' primary business seems to be manufacturing chairs.

And yeah, it appears to be a complete snoozefest. Like a piece of Wii shovelware with snazzier graphics. The backgrounds are pretty detailed, but there's literally nothing going on in them. What a waste.

I actually saw this at the AM show this year, but it looked so bad I didn't even bother reporting about it.

That is serious insult to KOF SkyStage. That at least has stuff happening.
This....
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Yeah, seriously, please don't insult Skystage by comparing it to this. I can't believe someone spent money developing this. I'm really hoping it's some kind of beginner mode. Like... for someone who has never, ever touched a video game.

I also can't believe I sat through most of that video. I had a sick hope something cool would happen.

I stopped watching after 10 seconds, thought it just wasn't my forte but apparently it's worse still.

Looks like another Broken Thunder to me: emphasis on graphics, fuckall attention to gameplay development thanks to not having a clue. Though I imagine Broken Thunder will be better still.
