Was browsing on the Hori USA site and came across the newly released 360 & PS3 variant Fighting Edge joysticks.

How are good are they when used for playing shmups?
Is the new Hori produced Hayabusa joystick as good as the Sanwa or Seimitsu branded ones in terms of responsiveness?
And is the LED lighting quite super bright? Looks like Hori borrowed a idea or two from the cool, slick & colorful "Dioder" LED lighting strips that Ikea sells in their stores.

You can buy a madcatz te stick this weekend for $100. There is no reason to pay $200 for a stick with hori parts

Yeah, that is a really good deal for a mere $100 bucks with the discount code + Sanwa arcade parts throughout to seal the deal. Thanks for the 411 on those Madcatz sticks, Zapf.
The layout on the new Fighting Edge sticks uses all new Hori parts from the ground up unlike with some of the past Hori RAP sticks using stock generic Hori parts (like the Hori PS3 RAP setup).

The FE feels really nice so far. Haven't yet used it for any shmups, but it seems like it should be fine.

It feels pretty close to both of those. Maybe a bit more like the JLF.

The LED is pretty bright. I prefer to turn them off.
The main gripe is that the 360 version is limited by MS in that they requires their stupid button colors, and as a result of that, the ability to remap those four is removed.

Thanks for the cool insights into the 360 version of FE stick, Thjodbjorn.
Ah, I was hoping that it'd be possible to re-map the four usual colored 360 face buttons to my liking. Perhaps a 2nd revision of the FE will address that re-mapping situation with Microsoft? Or perhaps a firmware upgrade oughta do the trick for button re-configuration purposes?
