Whoever sold you RS brand new for $50 is a retard. When and where the hell did you pick that up?? ...just curious

Also, I just found me a nice (loose) copy of Raiden Project at a local flea market this weekend. It's in almost mint condition, and dude charged me only $2 for it! Now I have two copies  Man, I need to go to the flea market more often.

I've got a full kit of "The Crystal Of Kings" :D

Crystal of King's is alright huh? It's got some personality, and gets better and better towards the end I think.
I'll have to check out that socker game. I wish you said there was some lost shmup for it :D
the soccer game seems pretty rare, ive never seen it anyways.
i dont like crystal kings at all, i think the graphics suck (never liked claynimation) like someone said tho the size of the cart is cool, about the size of a megadrive cart 8)

December '99. I bought it from an online store, gexpress.com i think. My parents let me order a shitload of games early for christmas that year because my back was to be operated on a few days before Christmas. I got that, a sealed copy of Philosoma for 17 dollars, and barely missed a new Final Fantasy Tactics for 35, sealed copies of which were selling for over a hundred dollars at the time on ebay.
Feedback will set you free.

I figured I'd list some stuff (some non-shmups listed too):

Original release of Kamui (in the purple DVD case) for PC.

Radiant Silvergun, brand new for $56 (from my local EBX when they were selling Saturn imports).

Prikura Daisakusen, brand new for $40 (from NCSX, got the last one).

Dodonpachi (PSX), brand new for $30 (there's something of a long story of how I managed to get this from a company who wasn't even selling games through mail-order when I contacted them).

Cotton Boomerang (Saturn), preowned for $40 (was complete though).

Sin & Punishment (N64), brand new for $40 (got it from a store trying to get rid of their N64 stock).

Umihara Kawase Shun 2nd Edition (PSX), brand new for $10.

Panzer Bandit (PSX), brand new for $40 (although the front of the case has a huge crack in it).

Games that I bought on release that have since become difficult to source as well as have gone up in value:

ZanacXZanac (PSX)
Night Raid (PSX)
Twinkle Star Sprites (DC)
Dezaemon Kids (PSX) Is it just me, or did this game suddenly disappear?
Rez (US PS2)

Games that I'm just glad I managed to find (all pre-owned):

Metal Slug 3 (US AES cart) for $250.
Rakugaki Showtime (PSX) for $72.
Gunner's Heaven (PSX) for $45.
Gunstar Heroes (Japanese MD) for $15 (didn't have the manual though).
Twinkle Tale (Japanese MD) for $40 (still had the enquette).

That's a few of the deals I've managed to find through various on-line retailers (none of the above was through E-Bay).

certainly seems that way. i really want a copy, as i have heard it is better than Dezaemon 2 on saturn, and also not a puzzle to figure out for someone who doesn't speak japanese.

by any chance Kiken. could you make some high-res scans of the front and back? i've really no place to ask, but i can be shameless.

Bloodflowers, I have one question for you. How on Earth did you manage to get a Sagaia arcade machine? I was under the impression that Darius 2 was not renamed to Sagaia until it was ported to Genesis/SMS/Game Boy. I searched for a Sagaia rom for MAME, and apparently no such thing exists. Is yours really a full Sagaia machine, or just a Darius 2 machine with a Sagaia marquis?

In other words, when you load the game up does it say Darius 2 on the screen or does it say Sagaia?

The arcade version was also renamed when it left Japan. The title screen does say 'Sagaia'.

Thanks for that link Accutron. I suppose the "Sagaia" version of the game just hasn't been ported over to MAME yet.

my god... i feel so inferior... ~_~ ...anyway, here's the gems of my collection...

Mushihime-sama, WITH promo poster and phone card. 8)

Einhander (US ver) freakin MINT... got it "used" for $30, but part of the jewel case's sticker-seal was still intact, leading me to wonder how "used" it actually was... ;)

Darius Twin, with box and manual. paid all of $6 for it. :D

Loose copies of R-Types, RayStorm, Thunder Force V (which was $3, believe it or not), Metal Slug X, G-Darius, Mars Matrix, and several other "staples" available in the US. (i still lack R-Type Delta, dammit all...)

1943, with instruction manual... i thought those things decomposed over time or otherwise mysteriously disappeared, but i found the game used for $13, WITH manual intact :D

Gradius V, with the Gradius Breakdown DVD...

well, out of the 109+ games in my collection, those are my current pride-and-joys ^^

I don't have anything too impressive as far a shooters go. (I've got a fairly nice Castlevania collection though!) I think I have all the US Gradius releases, except for the Tiger-ish handheld and the cellphone games:

Gradius (NES)
Life Force (NES)
Nemesis (GB)
Gradius: the Interstellar Assault (GB)
Gradius III (SNES)
Gradius III/IV (PS2)
Gradius Galaxies (GBA)
Gradius V
Gradius Breakdown DVD

Plus burns of Gaiden and both Deluxe packs...but those don't count. :)

iatneH, Super Laydock has RUN=DIM as well. There was an online store selling 'em for $39 or something like that awhile back, I gotta check if they still have any left.
Man, these are both highly sought after by me--esp Judgement Silversword. Can you (ar anyone for that matter) point me in the direction of either one?

Also, how "shootery" is is Run=Dim?

Forgot entirely about this thread..

Latest rare thing, as I created it:

The Touhou Cab:
http://system11.org/temp/touhoucab/index.html

I also managed to dig back out the only set of UK Sagaia ROMs known to exist. I dumped and submitted these a long time ago, but none of the MAME people did anything with them.

Remember how I was selling some games from my collection a while ago? This is what that was for. In addition to those games I also sold my GC and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night PAL, all of which took some of the edge off the item's price.

Image

A real Recca cart for Famicom. Not a reproduction. But that's not all, for the one I bought...

Image

is complete. A complete Summer Carnival '92: Recca, game, case, manual, all of it, in good condition.

And since I didn't have anything to play this on, I went and got a top-loading Famicom with AV output. And it works so beautifully.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.
