As my Dragon Blaze scores have been increasing, I've been running across a certain problem with my Shmupmame 2.2 .inps - as soon as the second loop starts, the character desyncs by a few frames, and I generally don't pass 2-1 in the replay even if I make it to 2-4 when I played. I've tried clearing the nvram but it doesn't seem to help make playback any smoother. This is understandably troublesome because I want my scores to be fully valid and I would appreciate feedback and advice from other players in my pursuit of a 2-ALL.
There are a few other weird things going on too.
- Apparently there are a few frames of .inp desynchronization in the first loop, too, since my score at the end of the first loop on playback was 900 lower than the score I wrote down in my .txt document for the run. This is minor but it really bugs me that the .inp wasn't recorded accurately.
- saucykobold was able to play some of my previous .inps perfectly after clearing nvram - neither I nor anyone else have been able to duplicate his results.
Can any of the ~*MAME masters*~ fill me in about what could be going wrong? Advice on other versions of MAME to use would be appreciated but I can't run 3.0b (and it runs at half resolution for some odd reason when it has worked, even after I restore default settings).
Help with desync when recording .inps?

Maybe... hmmm... use a MAME version that doesn't suck as bad?

I'm a MAME Plus! user these days but WolfMAME is pretty much the best for replay-related stuff.
