The tie between Italy and Spain in the second game of the tournament was quite close; unlike Spain, Italy appears to have improved and gained momentum since then.

Wow, Spain simply tore Italy apart... Where was the team that beat Germany a few days before!?

Best game of the entire tournament.

Italian players were walking since the 30' or so. They were clearly too tired, I guess, which is unsurprising: anyone who performs beyond their limits twice in a row, has to collapse at the third outing. The last two goals were clearly the results of Italy being completely baked, I think. Conceding last period points is typical in Rugby, in which the more tired team can easily rack up an extra 2-3 tries against, when the players are too tired to defend. Plus, for a team that found their feet during the tournament, they still have done exceptionally well.

Well done for Spain, however. We witnessed a first: a team winning continental-world-continental cup in a row. They played their best football tonight, with a fluid and extremely organized game. So, their win is deserved. I wouldn't mind *at all* if they can win another world cup in Brazil 2014, although I will certainly root for Italy ;)

As predicted. :D

What a magnificent team, the greatest I've ever seen. I always expected them to win the tournament, even when the criticism started rolling in.

Super football and worthy winners, Viva España, they made history tonight.

Just a footnote:

To all the thread contributors, I've enjoyed following the tournament with you. It's been good. Let's do it again in two years.

Due to some unforseen circunstances I haven't been able to watch all of the matches since the last time I posted but yesterday... god... the whole city roared when spain did a goal.

And as Skykid said, I hope we get more football goodness on the next world cup. See ya in 2 years.
