Hello this my first post on this forum, I have learn a lot of interesting here, so thanks for that (^.^), I have found this video scaler on ebay which seem very tempting for 240p source, it should avoid the flickering problem on shadow that some scaler seem to have, the problem is that I haven't found any review on this product yet.

The specification seem very interesting and it could be a great combo with the slg3000, if you want to use this for retro gaming.
Of course it could also be a very low quality product, but this seem to have the same spec has the hd box pro, but with a more interesting (for me at least) input source (vga, cga).
So if some you have more information it could be very nice to share this here, my better half watch my video game spending very carefully, so I can't afford something like the Xrgb mini...
Good Video scaler for vintage consoles and micro computer?
Re: Good Video scaler for vintage consoles and micro computer?
Ever heard of the Gonbes RGB/CGA/EGA/YUV to VGA converter (GBS-3220)? These babies are similar (same?) to the HD Box Pro, has vga and component input, and two vga outputs. Easy to use, just need a 5V voltage power supply to power it. No casing unfortunately, but IMO worth buying.
Last, the GBS-3220 cost half of the one you linked.

That's the Ambery CGA to VGA converter. It's not good. Tearing and other issues. Pick another one. And read my website.
Re: Good Video scaler for vintage consoles and micro computer?
Thanks for the information, I have heard that the gombes scaler had some problems with
flickering shadow you can see this effect in alot of neo geo games, and this what I want to avoid if possible.
My sony bravia kdl 46w4000 has a good image with my aes, except for this problem with shadow and some very very light tearing in Fighting games when I hit someone too hard (^=^).
So I'm looking for something to get rid of these two anoying "effects".
I have just read that the scaler, I have linked, had some tearing issues, so yes for the price the cga to vga seem to be the better deal.

Re: Good Video scaler for vintage consoles and micro computer?
The tearing is probably due to the AES's weird refresh, I don't think you can eliminate that completely, but out of all the scalers I've encountered the XRGB mini does an amazing job dealing with this issue.

The harder part would be to comvince my wife to buy me one, in the meantime
I will try the sync striker, cga vga, slg3000 combo if it does not work on my sony bravia
I will use this with my crt monitor sony E400.
