See you guys tomorrow. I stopped by Trader Joe's on my way home from work and picked up some stuff to make chili cheese fries and a six pack of Sapporo.

Thanks again for hosting this Frenetic, really looking forward to it. Sorry to see you can't make it Age of Kings. I'm sure there'll be another down the line.

If jepjepjep is bringing Ketsui, someone want to bring an EPROM burner and a blank EPROM? I might have a little treat

Yeah, that was a lot of fun. Thank you Frenetic for opening your home to us all, it was definitely an eye-opening and a learning experience! It was cool to play the Classics on a real machine, not in MAME for once.

Speaking of MAME, what was the name of that game we did the tourney on? I've gotta play that some more!

Wickedkano, keep in touch about that TvC stick! We'll work it out one way or the other!

Just got back to NorCal. Had a great time, and was totally worth the roadtrip to meet everyone. Big thanks to Frenetic for being a gracious host (and cook!). Also thanks for blackoak for allowing mdl and I to crash at his family's place for the night. Playing Dariusbust AC EX was icing on the cake! I tweeted a few pics to my twitter.

Hey guys,
It was great meeting you all yesterday. I had a great time and got to play some awesome games that I hadn't seen before like Takanori Shooting, Gradius IV, and the new Ketsui Arrange. Thanks again for hosting it, Frenetic.

Thanks for having me over Frenetic and hopefully there will be more events like this. It was nice meeting you all. Again, I come from a fighting game community so I had no idea what to expect but after seeing what some of you guys have shown me, it's quite interesting and there's a lot more (shmup) games for the Xbox 360 than I thought! lol Thanks fogelmir (I believe that's right lol) & Jelloman581 for showing me Mushihimesama Futari as that game interested me the most. I'll probably be picking that up asap. Also, I do have a question. What version of Mushihimesama Futari for Xbox 360 should I be picking up? I noticed there were multiple versions of it.

I also have some pictures that I took if you want those as well, Frenetic.

Jelloman581, I'll keep you posted man. I'm 80% sure i'll be at curleh mustache but if not, I'll let you know

Wickedkano, this would be the nice cheap version to pick up.

I do not know if the Platinum version includes the Black Label DLC (best mode of the game imo), you can purchase it here from the US Xbox Live store without need a JX360 or a Japanese XBL account:
http://marketplace.xbox.com/ja-JP/Produ ... 02435a07d7
- If you can let me know exactly which Hori stick you have, I'll look into modding it with a ChimpSMD (see link at godlikegames below for info and price). If all other modding options fail, we'll work something out.

For those that I talked to about it, here is the link to the hardware scanline generator that I use on my Kraylix cab with my JX360. Currently he is out of stock of the DIY kit, but he is due to restock with a rebuilt kit within the week, according to thread below. No idea what the price difference will be. It is a nice alternative to the SLG-3000 though.
Order from: T-SLG v.1.6 http://godlikecontrols.com/
SRK thread with lots of info (and a n00b question from me!): http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?th ... st-6306211

arcade game: Here's Deathsmiles LE for $14.99 at Newegg, says in stock

Frenetic, I'll let you know if I go to Curleh Mustache for sure as well. Gonna be some good pre-EVO matches there! And you're free to come by and take a look at the Kraylix: for a clone it's pretty good.

Thanks for the good times all, it was a blast!

Thanks for hosting a great meet, Frenetic. I'm glad I was able to make it--hope next time I'm in either half of California there'll be another! Nice to see some familiar faces again and to meet new ones.

Special thanks to Dave K. for letting me catch a ride, and blackoak for letting us crash at his folks' place.

It was really cool meeting the socal crowd. I really enjoyed meeting some of the people I see post here every week. Thanks Ryan for hosting, and for lunch! I forgot to give Otomedius to you but I'll put that in the post this week. Thanks to Dave and mdl for being excellent travelling companions as well (and listening to my blather for 6 hours in the car, hahhaa). I also enjoyed "blathering" to trap15 about coding and game design. I wish I was better at Ketsui so as to more fully appreciate your work on it, but I'm glad I got to play it all the same.

As for the games, I enjoyed Garegga and Batrider, though I got mostly destroyed on everything else. :? Fire Shark, wtf... and, I may never get the Viper Phase 1 first stage music out of my head.

Hope I can make it down for the next one!

Oh yeah, did anyone find out whose SDOJ flyer (or whatever it was) that was? I'm still curious (and envious) :P

Was the flyer in a bubble wrap? It may be the one I brought over to give away but forgot to mention to Frenetic. It is free to anyone that wants it. I might have more flyers once I go through my folders in the closet to give away.

Many thanks to everyone who came out to the shmupmeet. It was a blast having all of you over and just talking about shmups and play shmups and and...Shmupmeet recap, sorry I was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. My first time running a shmupmeet and I'll know what to fix for the future. Since I didn't get to chat with a lot of you as much as I'd like I'll just leave my thoughts here. We basically played shmups from 11am-8pm and then some of us went to Round One arcade to play Darius Burst: Another Chronicle. We did what we said we were going to do. Whew! Pictures in case you missed them are here:
http://imgur.com/a/C5GdA

arcade game: You are so knowledgeable and arcade gaming is definitely in your blood. Bringing a whole New Astro City cabinet down was such dedication! Hope to keep in touch with you in the future.

alamone: Thanks for coming over and fixing wiring the cabs. You were also a champ running around setting up the superguns and getting pcbs into rotation. Sorry I was so busy, next time I'll know what to do before hand. Those Berkeley Dogs were so good...I loved the calabrese.

blackoak: Loved hearing about your insights into STG culture in Japan. Your translations are an invaluable contribution to the shmup scene.

dannysaigon: Great to have you over. Kind of a coincidence, eh? Well, I will let you know about the next shmupmeet.

Dave_K.: It was a real honor having you down here. Driving up to your shmupmeets has been definitely a highlight and once I get more time after the wedding I hope to get some more SoCal peeps and carpool up there again.

fogelmir: Cool to see your plays on Tatsujin Oh and congrats on your DFK 1.5 1cc!!! So cool you could do it at the shmupmeet.

Jelloman581: Your stick and mods are amazing. I loved talked about fighting games with you since I play them as well. I'll try to make it out for Curleh Mustache and will be watching the EVO 2012 SF4:AE matches.

jepjepjep: Glad you were able to come down. Those chili cheese fries were delicious! I'm definitely going keep that recipe in mind. Loved seeing a real Ketsui pcb with trap15's Arrange mode burned on an EEPROM in it. So awesome!

mdl: Thanks for coming, keep those Japan reports coming. I love being able to ask you about arcade culture there.

Shuurin: Thanks for coming over to my place and opening it up early for the rest of the shmuppers! Really helped me out.

Sparky: Thanks for bringing your supergun and PCBs. A shame that you weren't able to make it out this time but there will definitely be a next time so I'll see you there!

trap15: So awesome you came out! Loved hearing your insights on Cave programming code. What a unique perspective. See you in shmups chat.

wickedkano: Sorry parking was so tight but glad you drove out from Fontana. I noticed you are getting Mushimesama Futari 1.5. Please feel free to gimme a call or whatever to talk about tips. This is a great community.
