Is ASUS VH236H still the king of gaming monitor?

Currently I have a Sony KDL46V5100 for casual gaming, when it comes to shmups(xbox360), I think the input lag is way too much even when game mode is on, so now I'm considering to buy a monitor for tate. Is VH236H still the best choice out there? Or there are better ones? Thanks.

I'm curious too. I use a VH236H for modern games because of the nonexistent overall display lag, but the visual quality isn't the best (with limited customization available) and the sound startup lag is really annoying.

You know, I own both a Samsung PN51D550C1, and an LG 32LS3500, and I don't notice any lag bad enough to affect my reaction. Maybe I'm just getting old or something.

Unfortunately for me, my Sony isn't a plasma like your D550, or LG(from what I heard their TVs have less input lag compare to Sony).

The LG one I bought is fairly cheap comparatively, because it's a 720p set. And at 32", it would be better than the VH236 IMO.

Two of the dell ultrasharp models have similar latency as the asus, but with IPS screens, which would be more appropriate for tating. I think there is another thread for all this though

The Dell U2312HM remains my current suggestion - best balance of price/picture quality/low input lag on the market right now, though you lose out a bit on convenience as it doesn't have an HDMI input nor any sort of audio support. You'd have to run a HDMI->DVI cable and pipe the audio out from your devices separately.

Quite possibly the worst choice you could have made if you're primarily using the monitor for tate... TN film's weakest point is the horizontal viewing angle, which when turned on its side, becomes the vertical viewing angle. I hope you enjoy only being able to see half the screen.
