STG of the Month (July 2012) - Gunbird 2 and Sengeki Striker

Post by CptRansom »

We're about a week away from the end of June, and that means it's time to start thinking about what you guys want to see for July. I was pleased with the turnout for May/June even though it was loooong and a lot of people don't like DonPachi. You are, of course, welcome to submit scores for DonPachi until midnight of June 30th (EST, because that's where I live and I'm a self-centered prick).

I'm going to change things up based on these observations/suggestions:

1) People wanted to see a random forum member pick the game.
2) People (including me) get burned out on a game after about two weeks.

That being said, here's how this month will work (and if it goes smoothly, following months as well):

-Reply in this thread that you want to be entered into the pool of people to select this month's game.
-You have until midnight on Thursday, June 28th to reply. Again, EST because I'm an asshole and I don't care about your time zones.
-Whenever I wake up on Friday and recover from my daily hangover (fuck yeah, summer vacation), I will make a sacrifice to the random number generator gods and ask for their blessing.
-I will PM the two selected forum members, and they will reply to my PM with the name of the game they want to play. I'm going through PM because if they pick a game that ends up being shit, I don't want any personal attacks sent in their direction.
-I'll start up the HS and Strategy threads on Sunday, July 1st.

That's right, bitches. I said TWO members. See observation #2 up there? With TWO games for the month, that gives people another game to focus on once they get burned out on the first or if they just flat-out hate the first. I'm pretty sure there are enough STGs in the world to not have to worry about running out any time soon even with two games a month.

But hey, yeah, there it is. Reply, nominate yourself, and then tell me what a dumb idea this is.

Oh, and no Cave games. NONE.

EST is the best time zone, fuck the rest.

Also, please pick me.

Edit: Also, good call on no Cave games. They really tend to polarize people, and everyone's played them already. Pick Psikyo instead

I'm in. Love the two choices idea, very clever way of keeping the picks monthly :D

Will this take a hiatus during STGT?

I wish to force my will upon the people.

Even moreso than I do now, anyway.

I think it would be a bit disingenuous if I didn't put myself forward.

Totally digging the Cave ban, that's a great idea.

Would it be a good idea to let the 2 chosen members know the other winner?

Just to avoid us playing two very similar games.

In the extremely unlikely event that both members pick the same game, I'll flip a coin to determine who has to change. Not a big deal. =)

Keeping track of members here. I'm not capitalizing letters because fuck you that's why.

I'm not on the forums a whole hell of a lot lately, but I will try to keep this list updated daily. If I post that I've updated, and I've missed you, just let me know.

I was more thinking if one person picked Raiden Fighters and another picked Raiden Fighters Jet. Of course, the chances of that are pretty dang low.

Great idea though, looking forward to this!

Yeah, that makes sense. I'll just have to play it by ear and make a decision IF it happens (not likely).

My face can choose something.

I'm also entering my arm, my leg, and my big toe to select a game.
