Euro 2012
Re: Euro 2012
Although I do watch a good amount of Football and I do like it, it does bother me that this game has such a high rate of not producing a victor. I've always thought that the whole purpose of a sport was to determine who won and who lost, to me it leaves a very unsatisfying feeling when it ends in a tie and this is by far the largest flaw in this game in my mind. It's the same with chess, which is why I'm glad they have decided to speed up the game.

Re: Euro 2012
That match was fun... Sweeden should have won just because England was so dull on the second period before the 2 goals by sweeden. Besides, they play well, both teams, but it's an injustice for Sweeden being in the lead in 2 matches just to finally see the other team take the lead at the end of the match.
Good bye Sweeden.
Good bye Sweeden.
Re: Euro 2012
England seem to have this long running terrible habit of scoring a goal then relaxing way to much often leading to the other team scoring, they really need to work on that .

England were utterly rubbish. They don't understand the meaning of possession. Walcott saved our necks.O. Van Bruce wrote:That match was fun... I am officially lost in the jungle of soccerdom, it's me or several teams simply couldn't string together at least two proper performances together?
I will root for a Spain-France final, as they looked the sharpest, most consistent and most interesting teams.

I hope Greece win, simply because I do love a good underdog story (and I'd like to see that mechanical and impervious German team crying tears of unfathomable sadness.)
Felt bad for the Croats today: just...need... one... goal! So near and yet so far.

Re: Euro 2012
In principle, yes. But I just hate Greece's boring and destructive style of play and the fact that their media is spinning this as some kind of vendetta over the debt crisis. If that's what they want maybe Germany should offer them a deal: If they win, they get bailed out. If they loose, their islands will be sold to Turkey.Skykid wrote:I hope Greece win, simply because I do love a good underdog story

Cest la vie Ukraine, played better than England and still lost. Can't believe we topped the group...

So Ronaldo deserved his goal, the guy works hard... but I was still rooting for the Czechs to cause an upset.

Just cracked open a beer in anticipation of Greece knocking Germany out tonight. Just found out Germany have left out all their top players. Good move.

Re: Euro 2012
I can't see how Greece can steal this one. They're so one-dimensional, that German should give them a hiding they won't forget in a while.
The other side of the table looks more even. Italy-England looks even, while I'd tip Spain to topple the yet green France. I would perhaps tip for a re-rum of the last final, though, since in-form Germany would get either Italy or England, while in-form Spain would get Portugal.
I would be happy if any other final would come up though, we need more variety (England-France would be cool).
Hold on:

I don't expect Germany to honestly lose, but one can dream eh?

Re: Euro 2012
That was an interesting first half lol. Greece might need to stop playing pure defence now and actually try to score a goal, since their force-a-draw tactic went out the window with Lahm's scorcher of a goal.
I suppose, objectively, you can say Greece have done well not to be 3 nil down already. I fully expect Germany to end this game 3 or 4 goals clear, and I reckon Joachim Low will be giving them a dressing down at half time for not capitalising on all those chances.
Greece: There will be no bail out.

Well it was never going to happen really, they're just way too strong. I've lost interest now, as predicted four goals up and no competition to speak of.
The worst thing about the match is they keep cutting to Angela Merkel every a goal is scored. Good in government, I'm sure, but there must be prettier things lurking in the crowd.

Interesting match, I think the Greeks should have gone back to pure defense after equalising.

Yeah, me neither. Bad character. Drinking to a competing team losing is extremely poor sportsmanship. I'm not at a loss for words, though.Randorama wrote:

Plain English: You have to root for a team, neutrality is no fun, and if it's not my own team, I support the underdog.
Go Greece!
Oh they lost.

Erhm, I meant:
I hate when coaches don't field the strongest possible team, it's unrespecteful to the other team. That's a godwaful attitude, for me.
...and Germany ended up fielding the strongest team, with Greece barely avoiding a total hiding.
Tomorrow we have Spain-France. I have no idea, but I'll go eat, grab pizza and beer and root for France as they're supposed to be the underdogs, I think.
