Streetfighter Alpha 3: Double Upper for PSP

Post by Neon »

Old, old news, but a great deal of people still haven't heard about it it seems. November first, bitches. Pre-order.

I'll be getting it. I don't intend on ever owning a PSP much less playing a fighter on something you can't even use a stick with but I didn't have the chance to buy this game back when it was originally released since I wasn't that into videogames at the time.

Also, if it sells well, there might be hope for a PS2 conversion, like with the Darkstalkers collection...if they didn't just add in new characters, but actually worked on the balance as well, this game might be very, very worthwhile...

Shmups/fighters on DS and PSP are such a tease. It's like writing the best book ever, but only allowing it to be published in Russian. Not that any of them have been worthwhile so far, Darkstalkers aside, this should change that thoe.

DS Collection will likely never come to the US. Why? We all know the US doesn't care at all about the DS series and just liken it to an SF clone. We also know that Japan probably has the biggest DS fanbase. Supposedly, DS Collection sold less than 20k copies in Japan. Think of how much it'll sell here and it's easy to understand why Capcom probably won't localize the game.

Double Upper sounds like yet another copy of the DC version (a la DS Chronicle) except with the GBA version's extras (ripped straight from CVS2) and Ingrid. I wouldn't mind supporting a slightly more mixed up CFE2 or even a perfected PS2 version of SFA3 to be the definitive home version but not lazy crap like this for a handheld. Of course, if the PS3 ever had a PSP converter, I'd consider it...

I told you so

But it's pathetic that I remember that, it balances out...

Anyways, yeah. A PS2 port with the games balance issues worked on even a little would go a long way. It wouldn't really be worth it for the extra characters alone...

Yeah, you were right. I still believe the game was planned for localization until surprisingly awful sales in Japan and the likely poor sales for the PSP DS Chronicle made them rethink that approach. You've gotta import DS Collection if you haven't already; Vampire Hunter 2 arrange version is closer to VH and Dee even has his own Midnight Bliss sprite.

Yeah I wish to that they would focus on the balance/contol issue, other than that Vampire Chronicles on the PSP was perfect. I'm interested to see how Alpha 3 turns out.

And boy, the thought of maybe having a Streetfighter Alpha collection on the PS2. If that collection depends on how well the PSP version does, then Alpha 3 double upper all the way!
