Jesus fucking Christ, Nitro Ball for $420. Like most DE games, this used to be a sub $75 board.

So now you see where I'm coming from

In my case, being a newbie buyer, I didn't know what it was worth. A problem is that it might just have been trading hands cheaply but infrequently - some people tell me they've never seen one for sale before (and that's true of me, too). Hard to judge these things sometimes. In the way of justifying a higher price, it is one of the later crop of DE games, like Edward Randy. And hell, people are trying to charge $175 for Robocop, instead of $40 which I still think is closer to what it's worth.

Oh wow, that's on Japanese PSN for five bucks. And it's a budget release to begin with.

Actually I meant Cotton 100% . Edited now, but yeah it's fucking ridiculous. I swear last year he was trying to flog it for about £40.

Sharkoon Silent Eagle PC case fan... $138.

That must be a decimal mark error, another seller has it for less than a tenth that much.
I'm surprised one person bought it at that price

....or bought it when it priced at £11

That's got to be a decimal error?! The game is quite rare, but that's crazy. If this price is real, then I'm selling mine :D

i wonder what his reserve is, sureley he must be aware you wont get anywhere near individual market value when bunching stuff up like this?

i also have to wonder why you'd sell up after amassing so much stuff..

It's listed in there, but by its "Summer Carnival '92" title only.

Yeah, he's not gonna be happy footing that bill, although he knows what it's costing him. He shoulda hosted 'em offsite all the same, except this way they will show up from the search.

Skykid and the anti sealed games defence force. A combined effort of course. Expect to see some unboxing videos on youtube in the coming weeks .

Sad thing is that it's not a completely unreasonable price. That is a genuinely impressive and valuable collection.

I was thinking that it was this guy who bought it, but it can't be him, he already owns the full libraries of most of those systems and a ton of other stuff (arcade cabs, PCBs, RC cars, rare Star Wars goods, a Ferrari). Right now he's closing in on a complete JPN Neo-Geo AES collection.

Shhh, don't tell everyone.

I agree with the second part. $1.3 million is a little over the odds despite what's on offer.

Funny thing is, I knew this would sell. I expected it to. Some rich guy who no longer sees money as a finite commodity just thought 'why not' - more bang for your buck than a painting or something.

But I always figured half the enjoyment of amassing a collection was the finding and acquisition, then the chance to inspect and enjoy playing. There's too much choice all at once, he may as well have paid for a torrent of complete romsets.

Would I trade all those days scraping the best stuff from the game store I used to work in, those rainy outings in Akihabara and the warehouses on the outskirts of Fuji, or last minute auction wins to instead have everything delivered wholesale, one-fell-swoop into my lap?

Not for a million bucks.
