Please weigh in on Sega Classics Collection
I have read so many horrible things about this one, but still, I think I might like it. Any comments would be appreciated!
I figured I should get it now with the retro floodgates opening up soon with Midway Arcade Treasures 3, Capcom Classics, Taito Legends, and Tecmo Classic Arcade on the way.

Golden Axe is killed by sluggish character control. Sometimes when you are recovering from one of your attacks, an enemy can rush in clear from the other side to bop you- it's really that bad.
Bonanza Bros. is one of the better titles in the pack. While the graphics are upgraded, the control hasn't been tampered with.
Columns is relatively unchanged except for higher resolution graphics.
Alien Syndrome has slow character movement compared to the arcade.
Space Harrier and Out Run aren't bad.
Virtua Racing is almost as good as it gets.

You mean this?

I'm not looking forward to it. It seems it'll only have the original games. 3 emulated MD games really doesn't seem worth it to me but I guess having a legit copy of Alien Soldier for only 2500 yen is a pretty good deal.

Virtua Racing
I don't understand all the love the Virtua Racing port gets. Am I the only one who notices the control of the car was completely ruined?
Well, if you bothered reading through the posts above and went to the link given, then that question would be self-evident... Anyway, they're aiming for a perfect port this time along with the remake.
As for VR, what's wrong with the control? I didn't notice anything except that they might be more forgiving (I recall easily spinning out in the original but I'm not sure if that was the Genesis or arcade version).

Eh, well I did bother obviously since I mentioned the game that was highlighted within that link, and since there was no mention of it, I was sharing my enthousiasm for GFII, to see if I'm the only person in the world who is anticipating this release, and I was obviously trying to see if anybody had any idea when this title will be released. But thank you for mentioning and quoting me and educating me. I take no offense even though this would've been enough ground for a flame war for some of us. Not me, I say......Ganelon wrote:Well, if you bothered reading through the posts above and went to the link given, then that question would be self-evident... That game with the penguin who has to take the egg to to the bottom of the screen without breaking it (Its the first screen shot in the page - never knew its name, as its in japanese in the title screen.... we used it to call "Penguin Adventure"... then Konami released Penguin Adventure, then we begin to call it "Penguin Egg"
Is that part of a compilation? I used to love that game in the MSX, and with 50 levels, I was never able to finish it.
Was it released an arcade before? I ask that because the game is IDENTICAL to the MSX version... maybe it was a SG-1000 game, which was based in the MSX hardware anyway (So ports of SG-1000 games to the MSX were very easy to do and were much of the time identical)

Err, OK, that's considerate of you... I'm not sure if your thanks was made in sarcasm or not given that last sentence but I did in fact inform you that the original game would be on there in 2D as per your initial comment...D wrote: Eh, well I did bother obviously since I mentioned the game that was highlighted within that link, and since there was no mention of it, I was sharing my enthousiasm for GFII, to see if I'm the only person in the world who is anticipating this release, and I was obviously trying to see if anybody had any idea when this title will be released. Doki Doki Penguin Land is the name of the game you are referring to. The Master System version was released in the US as Penguin Land. The SG-1000 version will be in one of the complations for PS2. Oddly enough, there's actually a b/w GB version of the game, despite being a SEGA game. As far as I know, there is no arcade version of the game.Shatterhand wrote:That game with the penguin who has to take the egg to to the bottom of the screen without breaking it (Its the first screen shot in the page - never knew its name, as its in japanese in the title screen.... we used it to call "Penguin Adventure"... then Konami released Penguin Adventure, then we begin to call it "Penguin Egg"

Edit: I just found out that Penguin Land LCD handheld has nothing to do with Doki Doki Penguin Land
