Everybody can play Major Stryker!

We also could play Hacha Mecha Fighter "Last Call For Broken Patterns" version in MAME.

It would be nice if games were picked that

a) haven't been played to death
b) haven't already been in previous STGTs
c) don't need a year of studying to get any results in
d) people can actually emulate

Also, having no Cave and no Raizing in the competition would be quite refreshing, imo.

So, would all STGT participants be expected to fork out for a copy of a Touhou game, or are you suggesting something else?

The top three scoring runs should be required to submit a .inp file or be disqualified.

In about an hour we'll be arriving at our destination, Kattelox Island...

Double check your equipment readings and make sure EVERYTHING's in working order.

I swear this treasure will be ours or my name's not Bonne(quas)... Let's do it!!!

It's a nice idea, but what if the top scorers are using PCBs?
So, are we expected to turn our TV on its side?!

If they can afford PCBs, they can afford a way to record it. Assuming they actually own the PCB.

Any Touhou ought to be one of the PC98 games, which are older than some of the MAME stuff that have been flying around and they run quite well on an emulator (like Blade Buster last year).

I agree with this guy. Please let Illyrian organise 2012.

No Cave please. It's been done to death in previous STGTs, everyone seems to play them all year anyway and the scoring systems they have are not really conducive for playing in such a short tournament.

Though the inevitable Ketsui week will be nicely symbolic.

I'd expect all the high level players to counter-stop Batsugun Special by the end of week. There isn't another way to break ties other than time of completion (Mars Matrix was counterstopped but EXP broke ties). Dogyuun would be good though.

Batsugun special is four goddamn loops, hell no

it doesn't need a counterstop to be a horrible idea

But a relatively easy counterstop is a way more legit complaint than almost anything else.

Dogyuun can be counterstopped too, can't it?

Dogyuun basically crashes at the start of 5-1 so it can't be counterstopped. It'd be problematic for the tourney since the top tier players might have two and a half hour long credits.

No infinite-looping garbage please (or 4-5 loop garbage for that matter). :(

V-V would be pretty sweet.

Seconded. In addition to being astonishingly awesome, V-V is almost certainly the only Toaplan game that would work in a scoring tournament (no counterstop or otherwise busted scoring, just two loops, slightly longer than Cyvern).
