OK, I have had this problem for a while, but I'm finally getting fed up with it. Frequently, when I have any Internet-using program open, my computer will spontaneously crash on me, going to a blue screen that says "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL" and then a bunch of gibberish. It happens especially frequently when I'm using BitTorrent. Any idea what could be causing this or how I could fix it?
I had RAM problems like that. I got frustrated and put my memory back into single channel mode instead of dual channel. Makes it slower, but my system doesn't randomly blue screen anymore.
I've heard of this happening before, and especially if BitTorrent is involved, the issue is probably related to network drivers. You might check to see if there's an update for those. I think this might even be a known issue, and someone will have a fix available.
It is a problem with the driver for your network card. Try to upgrade it and find one that is microsoft certified. Most blue screens in WinXp are related to driver issues.
Well, I downloaded some stuff for my network card, and then started up my torrent and went to work. 9 hours later and it's still running without a hitch. I'd say that's a good sign
Yeah, that's a good sign. Hope it isn't your RAM. In 3 different occasions (checking for other people) the same symptoms have turned out to be RAM for me. Good luck, as drivers are just a *little* cheaper than RAM.
