Yes, the very talented director of Darkness Falls (23% on Metacritic), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (29%), and Battle: Los Angeles (37%). This is going to be so cool!

Darkness Falls might be a terribly generic horror flick, but it has Emma Caulfield and some really good use of sound. I don't regret watching it in the theatre.Stormwatch wrote:Yes, the very talented director of Darkness Falls (23% on Metacritic), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (29%), and Battle: Los Angeles (37%). Re: Michael Bay's Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles
According to the interviews the comic creators gave back in the day, that was sort of the original title. Eastman (or was it Laird?) enthusiastically proclaimed the original drawing of the four as "Ninja Turtles," then Laird (or maybe Eastman) pontificated that they should be "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."Udderdude wrote:So apparently they changed the name to just "Ninja Turtles". fuck man, Battle Los Angeles is a piece of shit. (I knew it would be, but I was dragged to it). Action movies don't suck. There have been plenty of amazing action movies with brains and coherent narratives and even, dare I say it, artistic flourishes. The problem is these days the process of movie making has been so brutally suborned to the profit motive that every element of the movie is carefully focus grouped, run past hundreds of executives notes, rewritten by seven different writers, and finally the product that results is something as risk free with as broad appeal as possible, even the inclusion of a recognizable brand name like TMNT.burgerkingdiamond wrote:fuck man, Battle Los Angeles is a piece of shit. The ironic part is that the final result of this complicated process are Roger Corman movies with computers instead of tits.

Re: Michael Bay's Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles
Yup. The current climate is anathema to artistic/intelligent/good films, action or otherwise. It doesn't show any sign of abating. Independent films are hamstrung with different problems and the scope of their endeavours limited in any event. A related problem is that enough time has passed like this that you have a generation of artists with very bad instincts and knowledge, ie willing partners. Re: Michael Bay's Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles
Michael Bay renamed the movie to Ninja Turtles. No teenagers in the title anymore.

In case anyone's still following this, it appears to have been delayed, though by exactly how much seems unclear.

Wow, the script was actually so bad that they pulled the plug on it D:The issue is said to be the script.

I hope the original script gets released. Would be equal parts hilarious and depressing to read.

Re: Michael Bay's Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles
Wasn't the original plan to do a live action film that was similar in tone to the classic original?
Well, this train wreck in the making won't be missed.
I'll watch TMNT 90 instead.
