Hello everybody...I am wondering if there is a way to hook up a japanese XBOX 360 to my jamma cab without butchering the cab or anything. I use my cab to play tons of jamma games, and because it's egret 29, i can easily rotate it to the vertical position. I'd love if there's a way to hook up a 360 to this to use the controls of the cab and the visuals of the cab as well. Is there a way? If so, what would I need to buy, and is it difficult to set up?
Thanks!!!

Re: XBOX 360 on a jamma cab
that seems to take care of video/audio....but what would one do about controls? is hacking a 360 pad required? Is there no plug and play solution?

http://akishop-customs.com/ (not released yet) or: http://www.focusattack.com/paewang/ is good, or contact Haruman on Arcade Otaku or BYOAC for a nice controller hack if that's what you want.

Combine the SCART to JAMMA adapter and the ps1/2 expansion module mentioned middle of the page here: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... &start=750 AND 1 or 2 xtokki adapters here: http://etokki.com/Xtokki360 and you are in plug and play land. Helps if you have a cps1/2 kick harness to take care of the extra 4,5 and 6th action buttons too.

Re: XBOX 360 on a jamma cab
Insanely useful information, thanks everybody!
rugdoctor, is there any known lag with the setup you mentioned? With all these adaptors floating around, it'd be nuts to expect no lag at all (though if they're very well made, this may be the case!)
So this is a lot to digest....let me get this straight. First off, a J360 with a SCART output cable. This outputs into the SCART/JAMMA adaptor...from there, it will automatically send video/audio to my cabinet. Then, I connect a CPS1 kick harness (from my extra buttons to the SCART/JAMMA ADAPTOR) so that I am sending all 6 buttons there...then, I connect the PS1/2 module on that page to the SCART/JAMMA adaptor controller port, and that outputs my arcade controls to psx....then I use a psx/xbox 360 adaptor to output to my console....
Is this right?
Has anybody here tried all of the above and had success?

Re: XBOX 360 on a jamma cab
you got it! The ps1/2 expansion board has no lag whatsoever. SCART out from the 360 has no lag on a CRT and the JAMMA adapter does not process the video signals so no lag there. And you are right, any lag will be the result of the adapter you use (which is pretty non-existant by the newer generation ones like the xtokki). You will however need to get a Jap-RGB "SCART" plug addon for the SCART to JAMMA adapter as the pins are different compared to Euro Scart (plugs looks exactly the same!). Otherwise, procure a Euro-SCART cable for the Jap-360 and that should output Euro-Scart bypass the need for the addon. The good thing is that the adapter will also amplify the sound from the console as JAMMA requires amplified sound source and you can mess around with the contrast to finetune your preference.
I tried all the above and had a few rounds of VF5, SFxT and some AkaiKatana on my versus city with no problems, the converter I was using was the older x360 converter and x360 converter pro (newest version is the xtokki).

Good to know! So I'm a bit confused by that last thing you said....which option includes the amplified sound?
The euro-SCART cable or the Jap-RGB "SCART" plug addon? Or is it both?

Re: XBOX 360 on a jamma cab
I use the following on my Egret II candy cab setup:
JPN 360 Slim --> 360 VGA adapter cable --> Ultracade UVc (Universal Video Convertor) adapter = 240p awesomeness on a low-res arcade monitor setup. Note: This only covers the video portion and still requires some pad-hacking to get a pair of 360 pads wired up to the fingerboard that the UVc uses to get the cab's control panel dialed in.
or going the alternative route:
JPN 360 Slim --> Official Microsoft 360 Advance Scart Cable --> 1st gen Scart to Jamma adapter (has built-in audio amp) = 480i format going this route running on a low-res 15.7kHz arcade monitor setup.
The 2nd gen Scart to Jamma adapter also has the built-in audio amp as well -- has the Euro Scart input but it can be changed to JPN Scart (JPN 21-pin RGB to be more exact) if it needed be. Shmupper "tech god" viletim can hook you up with one.
You just have to make sure that 360 outputs in 640 x 480 res going with either method and it'll be smooth sailing from that point on.
Microsoft never did release such an official JPN 21-pin RGB cable but only the 360 Euro Scart cable for the European market (it'll work just fine on a JPN 360 console).
