I'm not super hyped about this particular game, but if by some chance 360 starts to build a respectable shooter library, then so be it, I will buy it.
Besides, what's to stop you from buying the games as they're released, and just hold onto them until an import system drops to a more affordable price? At least at that time you won't be paying through the nose for out-of-print games.

The game is very slow. The action is not intense like a Manic Shmup. The character and level design is fitting of a DC/Naomi release basically it is a Shmup / fighter hybrid on 8 year old technology. The only thing I like about this game is the zooming in and out. Outside of that this game has little to offer but a cool multiplayer head to head mode. Hopefully M$ utilizes this on its Xbox 360. This just seems like a game destined to FAIL in Japan on this console.professor ganson wrote:Hey, 3rd Strike. I seem to recall your saying that this game doesn't obviously deserve a home port. You've played it: what is your hesitation? Just curious: I don't know much about the game.

Oddly enough you're the first person I've read that has a negative (well, somewhat) review of the game. Granted, the other impressions I've read were from a fighting game board (Shoryuken.com), but from the videos I've seen I was *really* looking forward to playing it. Source? Only thing I ever read about a home port was "we still have nothing to say about a home port".Kingbuzzo wrote:The president of G rev told DCS many months ago that this would be released on DC by the end of 2005. This seems a bit clouded now...
EDIT:
It's not that great. I would probably not buy it no matter what it came out on.Oddly enough you're the first person I've read that has a negative (well, somewhat) review of the game

Just about anyone does. I believe his email is widely available on Grev Tsuushin, and he does reply to them... even from ye old gaijin. No disprespect to Kron or anyone else, but I would've taken anything less than an official announcement with a shaker of salt.Kron is said to have contacts with the people in charge at G.REV...
EDIT: Mispelling

At the start of the year I was told a version would be coming to the DC but it looks like Microsoft's cash has convinced them to do otherwise now.
I hope for G.Rev's sake they make this game region free otherwise so few people are going to get to play and enjoy the game now.
I wish them luck with it but I think they are making a big mistake considering there are thousands of people who were already prepared to buy this on the DC, It wouldn't be surprising to see the same sort of situation of Gradius 3&4 with the PS2 launch where it went on to sell a few hundred copies.

Hardly MS is behind the thing considering the little repercussion of SNR. I told you before - DC was officially canned. No more games could be appearing on it after this summer because Sega decided so. Grev chose the 360 for not being a Sony console.Kron wrote:At the start of the year I was told a version would be coming to the DC but it looks like Microsoft's cash has convinced them to do otherwise now.
Not at all. Nobody cares about the DC in Japan anymore. Starting with the shops, which just don't want to dedicate space for its games.I wish them luck with it but I think they are making a big mistake considering there are thousands of people who were already prepared to buy this on the DC,

I emailed G.Rev 3 years ago about buying the Naomi Version of Border Down and someone from Sega Called me Personally to discuss importing it from Japan directly. They do answer every email you send and are very polite and personnal in their dealings. They even gave me the heads up of a DC port. I have not emailed them about Senko No Ronde though even though I may tonight about a Naomi version is the price is right.GaijinPunch wrote:Just about anyone does. I HAVE THIS STRONG FEELING IN MY HEART THAT SENKO NO RONDE OR UNDER DEFEAT WILL GET A DC PORT. It is possible that Senko No Ronde Fails and gets a DC port or in the case of Shikigami No Shiro 2 gets announced for other systems before finally receiving a DC port. Keep in mind Shikigami No Shiro 2 came out in order on Gamecube, Ps2 ,Xbox and FINALLY Dreamcast.G.Rev is no Alfa System so I know they do not have the funds or connnections to port this to every console.
The Dreamcast port seems economical mainly because of the close hardware architecture of the Naomi.
Keep in mind G.Rev said they were showing 2 games at the show.
1 For Xbox 360 Senko No Ronde CONFIRMED
1 For Unamed console (Possibly DC or PSP)

G.Rev has limited options on which systems to publish their games.
Right now the Strongest and most obvious choices would be the Ps2/Psp.
I wonder if G.Rev was just thinking Xbox 360 is a game console that can just emulate Naomi/Dreamcast.
Another reason this is a RETARDED PORT
Xbox 360 3.0 ghz
Naomi/Dreamcast 200 MHZ
Meaning a port should look and play 10 times better on Xbox 360 and if it does not G.Rev is a foolish company.

Third -- you're very good at reporting news that IC, Gamespot, etc. post -- saves me time from looking there (which I don't do) but your speculations are pretty bad. Don't become (or try to stop being) one of the many people on the internet that pretend they know the business side of games. They, and you, do not.Views change with especially with MONEY $$$$$$$$
They said in an Arcadia a few issues ago that they completely broke even (or were even down a bit) once they finished the 2nd version of Senko no Ronde. So, you're right in that they don't have loads of dough to be throwing around.
Finally, you do realize that Sega is one of the largest supporters of Senko (and GRev in general), no? If they thought they could make any money on it on the DC, you could expect it to see it there.

Shit. Hopefully they'll decide to do a PS2, Xbox, or even a PC version. There's no real reason to shut the current gen out of a Naomi port. Anyway I'm hoping G.Rev goes regionless on this one.Recap wrote:It is. Sega closed its DC page for forthcoming games. I announced it at Postback and Click-Stick's some weeks ago. No more DC games. At least they should let the DC go out for good with the current batch of Naomi games (Rajirugi, Under Defeat, and SNR). It's a pity that Sega decided to not sanction any more DC titles.
I'm waiting to see what Kron will say.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I think this is great news if it spawns more shmups for the 360. The DC has had a nice run, but they can't all be NEOGEOs. Technology moves on. GREV is probably thinking if they have the first Japanese shmup on the 360, hey no competition! People will buy it! I think they're right.
Anyway I'll get a Japanese 360 if some other shmups are announced, but I'm not sure if Senko no Ronde is enough for me (I've never played the game so I can't really form an opinion on it, though I generally dislike 'hybrid' shmups).

Working in retail must've blinded you from the big picture then maybe. None of your speculation (especially the horsehit about 360 games looking 10x better than Naomi) reflect anything intelligent about the games market.Considering I have been a Manager at 3 game stores for the past 10 years I should know something about the business side of games.
How many could they dream to sell on the DC? 5000? I dare say if it comes out online they'll get that and then some on the Xbox, with MS floating the bill. Business-wise, it's the rigth move.

So the dream has come true. Senko No Ronde for Xbox 360.
Great move by G.Rev to bring this multiplayer-oriented versus game to an online-oriented gaming platform.
I'm shocked at some of the comments in this thread, suggesting this is somehow a bad thing.... are folks really so out of touch that they think this is bad news?
This is like bringing Virtua On to Xbox Live, but even better. Gives a nice promotional boost to G.Rev's international image, give gamers a nice unique title for X360 Live play, and gives Microsoft some real content in their lineup.
Ask yourself what's best for Senko No Ronde, the game. If you actually care about playing the game the way it was meant to be played, that is. Against human opponents. This isn't a solo score attack shmup like DDP.
The ALL CAPS trolling in the subject line is uncalled for, and has been removed.

Sure, that must be why the Playstation 2 has sold more units worldwide then either the Game Cube or the XBOX.You forgot the most obvious one: Everybody hates Sony.

And as for Sega saying there'll be no more Dreamcast games, I find that very hard to believe, especially considering that Sega is still supporting online Dreamcast play. Look at some of the home-brew shmups, like Drill, that are coming out, and the Naomi arcade games, like Under Defeat; there's simply no way that this is the end of the Dreamcast.

Now that's the ticket.
I agree.
In order for 2D shooters to stay in the game they have to be around on the latest hardware. It's hard to respect companies that support a system that's been dead for nearly two years now.
Hopefully other developers will follow their lead and we'll see ESP Galuda 2 on the X360 or something.

Re: Now that's the ticket.
I agree that this is great news too, but what does it matter if Naomi isn't "the latest hardware" if some developers still find it much easier to develop for then either Atomiswave or Type-X, both of which are newer?PepsimanVsJoe wrote:I agree.
