Downloadable release only, and it's probably going to be less than $20 to begin with.

And Child of Eden lets you use a controller.

So does HOTD4. Do people just make stuff up so they'll have more things to complain about?

Downloading now. Been waiting on this for 6 years, 10 if you count the time between HotD III.

It's up on the UK marketplace - 70 minutes and counting...

Anyone got any impressions yet?

Finally! Took them long-enough! Glad they finally brought it home; cost a fortune to play at D&B...

I'm hesitant to actually play it before getting a Move setup and gun attachment. Any recommendations on the gun attachment? I prefer the machine gun look with pistol grip.

Edit - Nvmnd, didn't see the Sharpshooter recommendation earlier. It looks sweet so I'll probably go with that.

Double edit - As a huge 007 fan it looks like the Goldeneye Reloaded bundle is the right purchase for me. I can get it for around $100 and comes with the whole Move/Eye setup, including the sharpshooter. Plus I'll get a Bond game out of it.

I've done a couple of credit feeds and it is glorious!

It's easier than other PS3 lightgun games like Deadstorm Pirates etc. but it's just such good fun. The scoring system is really intuitive and the graphics look really nice considering it's a 7 year old game or so.

It has a REALLY good calibration system as well, basically the same as HOTD3.

In the UK it's £6.49 and totally worth getting. Also with regards to guns I use the standard gun controller over the sharpshooter for HOTD4, although I do own the sharpshooter as well.

10/10 so far with this, gotta get the 1cc!

Anyone else playing this except Illyrian and I. It's about the best lightgun game I've played, really good scoring system.

Best score so far is 369,000. The 1cc is a long way off.

Sony used cheap thermal paste in phat models which dried out after about 2 years. The only way to prevent YLOD is to replace the thermal paste BEFORE overheating occurs in the first place. Once you got your first YLOD, the only way to permanently fix it is a complete reballing of the GPU and Cell (= expensive). It's a bad idea to do a reflow fix with a heat-gun (to which there are several guides online); your YLOD will come back sooner or later, and the extreme temperature eventually kills the CPU and GPU.

I have 3 60gb launch machines that all work. so that blows that theory out of the water. Unless someone lives in a country with hot weather with no AC.

Buy a torq10 screw driver and get the dust out every now and again. Its no longer under warranty guys.

Unlike your "DC-uses-watercooling"-theory, what I wrote above is fact, which anyone who actually knows what they are talking about will confirm. I have personally replaced the thermal paste of 2 60GB PS3s (that were between 2-3 years old at the time), in both cases it was brittle. The first sign of PS3 getting too hot is if the fan starts to run at a high speed soon after turning on your PS3. Not replacing the thermal paste of a launch model means rolling the dice.

I read in Edge magazine the month after Japanese launch where they dissected a DC and actually showed the pipes the water flowed through. If that info is incorrect than i'm sorry but I thought Edge was a good source of info.

In regards to dice, I'm rolling 3.

I guess where i've done well is by opening the machines and dusting them out. Which I do when the fan speeds up for long periods. Its common sense really.

anyway back on topic. I just downloaded the HOTD4 game.

Installation and downloading took about 2 hours on a 10meg connection. The install took just as long as the download.

After starting the game with nothing but a move controller I found it hard work keeping my arms up high using just that. So is there a gun controller/holder better suited for rapid fire shooting?

Presentation is really good and the atmosphere is just as B movie as the other games. I kinda like it.

What people think of water cooling in a PC sense, and heat pipes are very different. The DC used heat pipes like many laptops have.

I've only had enough time to play 3 rounds so far, basically enough to learn the ropes using the Sharpshooter. I'm never one for reading instructions so I was jolting the gun to reload for abit not realizing I had a perfectly good pump action right there  The pump action seals the deal on a HotD III purchase. It'll be the third time I've bought the game but what the hey, $7.00 for something I haven't gotten tired of in the 10 years since it's release. It's worth it just to show support for the series anyway. I'm really thankful for the pump action, shaking the gun had me worried about wear & tear/throwing off calibration.

I'm really liking the way it feels so far and am very thankful for the shoulder extension as I have long arms. I really have a perfect setup for it since my TV is mounted at head level, it feels great to play. It's a little cumbersome using my trigger finger to tap the square and triangle buttons when needed, but only takes a little getting used to.

I really love this moment in the music of chapter 1. It's right as the camera swoops left to reveal all of those mohawk zombies banging against the plate glass, it drops to a deep buzz and gets me seriously pumped for the rest of the game. You can hear it at 3:52 of this video.

The Shooting Attachment is widely cited as the best option. It was bundled with Razing Storm in Japan.

Don't bother with the Sharp Shooter. It's clunky and designed for FPS games. I wouldn't want to use it even with those though.

There's nothing wrong with the Sharpshooter, I use mine every day and love it. It has lots of features that once you discover greatly ease the experience of playing. I wouldn't use it for FPS games either, but for HotD 4 it's GD amazing with it's optional pump action reload.

That's not exactly faithful to the arcade, since originally in HotD4 you reloaded by shaking the gun.

Though it is faithful to 3.

You can shake it if you want to. I shake it sometimes.

Get a Sharp Shooter - closer to the arcade than a pistol, plus it makes throwing granades much easier.

Don't have the game yet, so I'm curious about one thing.

Does it maintain the difference between the vanilla/Special versions where in vanilla you had to shake the gun to open doors and the like, while in Special you mashed the start button?

There are a few times in the main game where you have to shake the gun to open doors, but in Special there's none of that - or button mashing.

Grenades are almost completely useless save for a few occasions. And you`re better off not using them on normal enemies unless you don`t care about the score.

Granades are great on bosses but you have to be accurate with timing and aiming. For scoring yeah, don't use them during the stage (unless it's to unlock a bonus room) - but then if you have to at least you don't lose your multiplier.

I haven't played this since my large crt broke... not much point on a 19inch.

what's the cheapest way I can get a setup going to play this?

I have a PS3, but no MOVE. I see that there are bundles for Killzone 3 and I think a Bond game, but I'm not at all interested in either of those games.

The only thing I would play would be HOTD or Time Crisis.

The Goldeneye Sharpshooter bundle comes with everything you need and can be found on Amazon for around $100. It's worth it for Razing Storm alone, plus all the other great light gun games available.
