I fear for the poor Casino sticks if Psyvariar is put in, that game is quite brutal with its rolling (unless you get a version with a roll button instead) :|

^Psyvariar used to be in the arcade when it came out. In the current Progear location. Playing it properly is something that only Smraedis can do. spadgy - be careful what you wish for on this one. Playing Psyvariar properly involves so much bullet grazing that it goes against your natural 'avoid the bullets' instincts.
Personally I wouldn't choose to put it in, unless Smraedis was to move to London. Then it would be good to watch him play it.

XII Stag would be cool. If you have a board.

Hmm I dunno, it's Psyvariar Medium Unit, and not Revision. On MU, you can only buzz a bullet once, and it changes the gameplay quite a lot, it only has 6 stages (compared to a maximum of 8 on Revision), and the hardest of tricks on MU aren't so difficult.
But yeah, any Psyvariar game ruins sticks!

I'm actually thinking of moving now, but I'm not too sure where I'll move to.

Oh, welcome to the club! I'm moving to a nebulous place too... it's a rather complex and imaginary situation, and I imagine yours is no better :|

Get a flat together in London/enter video game tournaments and live on prize money.
This would be a great sitcom.

Alternatively you can live in my cupboard (it's actually a room, I have a whole room as a cupboard) for a small price

So we discovered on Thursday. The engineer told us last night it was a loc test for the game.

That's why I love it. It's one of my favourite series ever, and a regular vote from me in the yearly Top-25 here. I know the series fairly well. Early on in my time 'playing shmups properly' I cleared Psyvariar RU and Psyvariar 2 a few times. But only console ports, and now I feel my skills over all are a little better, so I'd love to go back.

In the end I got the bundle: A GNET motherboard with XII Stag, Psyvariar MU and Castle Shikigami 1 all thrown in. I'm happy to keep them all to myself, or lend any or all to the arcade. I'm only biased towards Psyvariar as I want people to see how fun it is and how much capacity for extra scoring and new game routes there is.

Hey CHI,

If you have that Raiden DX put in a decent cab/screen, The Old Mills could come down and show you the 3rd and fourth loops. That's some insane shit to watch  . Better than his Strikers 1945 2nd loop.

Regs,

I haven't seen him since DBAC first came in, i've text him a number of times to come down but no show...
I believe he's in financial difficulties so it's understandable :|

Maybe we could get this on by swapping Donpachi... Are we done with this game :?:

Yeah, they're both not very stick friendly games, and Shikigami 1 feels pretty lackluster to me, even compared to the rest of the series :| I'd vote for Psyvariar, but as a retired STG player, I have no right to vote :P

Advance warning, I should drop by in Casino on Thursday 5 July, if anyone is up for some fighting :) I'll need a warmup against the AI though to remember timings offline... too much online play for want of any competition.

Why not try them all, I know it usually takes time to change games anyway, so you'll prolly get a lot of time with each game.
I think Shiki 1 isn't great (it's just worth quite a bit?), but you know I like Psyvariar a lot.

What about Bee Storm again?

Shikigami 1 is shit.

Stick abuse is at least 50% of the reason I want XII Stag in (the other 50% is because it's rad).

I'm supposed to be back next week but being not in London sucks so I might just come back Thursday.

I have got this on MVS, so we could! It's hardly a classic, but I love it. When dinosaurs mix with war the results are always lovely.

And yes, CHI, I'll change the thread now (I might even actually do it).

XII Stag first? Sounds good to me. I've spent a tiny bit of time with the PS2 version, but barely.

And breaking sticks? Like skateboards, aren't they designed effectively to be abused and killed? I'll give hzt a piggy back ride (for free!) all the way to Tottenham Court Road station of he manages to pull a stick all the way out of the cab while playing and in a rage (has to be in a rage.) (in fact, has to still be in a rage when I give him the piggy back - I want him screeching at commuters and all sorts)

Who's down Thursday then?

I hated 12 Stag, seemed very lacking. Stick Shiki in and I may show my face in casino a bit more often. ;)

That would be nice!

I'm surprised so many were down on Shiki here. I've heard many people say how much they adore it...

XII Stag has the same stick-abusing mechanic as Psyvariar, only it's not as good a game.

And Shikigami no Shiro is not shit. Really now.

Out of those three I'd vote for Shiki... but come on - dinosaurs and shmups, it's the future.

As it happens, when I come in tomorrow (about 7pm) I'll have the GNET bundle on me (I've not made it home since I received it at work), so we can all have a nose and argue about the games with them in front of us. I might not install it tomorrow though, as I'd like to have it at home for the weekend.

About the 3 games, i might have changed my mind after looking at the hi score threads...
Castle Shikigami 1, XII Stag then Psyvariar... in this order
Why i put Psyvariar last it's because long long time ago..... Papa DEL once showed me this superplay and it totally put me off :!:

I'll be down tomorrow after 6pm for more chats-n-bullshits
