Cave DOJ iOS cheats
Ok, I like throwing money at cave for their shmups, I own all of their J360 releases, all the RSG releases ( thats 2 copies of 3 of their games) and all of their iOS ports ( thats another 6 copie of games I already own), but this is where I draw the line.
Cave are selling unlocks for all all sorts of bullshit in their DOJ port on iOS - 11 unlocks - unlock 2nd loop, extra life, extended chain time, increase ship speed for a pound or 2 each or £12 for the lot. Yeah, thats right - pay £12 to ruin the game! Ok, so they might score some revenue from this from the casual smartphone crowd, but its totally pushing their consumer base in the wrong direction. I want to say ' bad Cave', ' naughty Cave', but if it gets them yen in the bank from shmups, I guess thats a good thing? !?

Personally, I would have preferred being able to buy weapons from other games, like in Deathsmiles iOS. Even if it totally breaks the game, might be good for a laugh
What is "increase ship speed", by the way? Increase the firing rate? Being touch controlled, the ships can already go as fast as your finger can move, so...
Deathsmiles iPhone mode was insane with its DLC, and it seems it didn´t really pay off that well, otherwise we would have seen much more DLC stuff in the later releases. Personally, I would be willing to pay premium prices for HD iPad versions, like DDPR HD or Espgaluda II HD - playing CAVE games on such a nice big screen feels a lot less "wrong" than on the iPhone, and I feel like I actually get something for my money compared to DLC cheats.

Yeah, instead of letting these games slowly grow on the player over a good perion of time, they are basically selling them a "5 minutes of fun" package that will make you never want to play the game again after that.
The 2nd loop option isn't a bad idea, but fuck the rest.

Well said!KAI wrote:No, is not, "The end justifies the means" my ass.BobbyNewmarkiii wrote:I guess thats a good thing? !?
As to the ship speed - it's actually 'increase speed rate for hyper' - was trying to post from my iPod at the same time. And there's 9 cheats, not 11. Here's the full bullshit line up;
'Blissful Set - Purchase all items' £11.99
'Bee license - Transporting to 2nd loop' £2.99 (I agree - almost worthwhile as 2nd loop DOJ is a good few years off for me)
'Colector's eye - Detects Bee items' £1.99
'Reduce - Narrow the bullet bearing range' £1.49
'Shot Boost Lv.2 - Empowers shot level' £0.69
'Laser Boost Lv.2 - Empowers laser level' £0.69
'Hyper Charge Lv.1 Increase speed rate for HYPER' £0.69
'Stock up Lv.2 - Additional ship' £0.69
'Bomb up Lv.2 - Increase Bomb' £0.69
'Combo Time Lv.1 - Extend Combo Meter' £1.49
I guess what irks is that none of this is new content, like adding the DS shot to DOJ, or even the bullshit clothes shop thing from Deathsmiles, or whatever that was. Its like dunpeal says - all of this stuff just serves to cheapen the experience.
Seeing as how novice mode highscores are listed right alongside hell mode (i.e. arcade) on the iOS leaderboards, without any indication as to which mode the scores were achieved using, making them total BS - I suspect that players using these cheats will also be listed on the highscore boards, making them suck ass even harder.
Funny thing is, if my maths is correct, it looks like buying all of these cheats individually would cost £11.41, but Cave are asking £11.99 for the box set. Classic!
Re: Cave DOJ iOS cheats
Just gonna point out that none of these actually make the game "easy."
What makes the game easy is playing it on Easy mode, which does WAY more to make this game a twenty minute experience than any buyable powerups could.

From two months ago: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 17#p786317
Consensus: if people want to play that way, that's their prerogative. Scores are split between people who use the IAP boosts and those who don't, so why do you care?

Atlus is still good. I wouldn't necessarily rule Cave out either.

This smells of financial desperation.
Re: Cave DOJ iOS cheats
There are separate leaderboards for the players using IAP, so no need to worry. Also, some of the IAPs have multiple levels, and the total' includes all of the levels.BobbyNewmarkiii wrote: Seeing as how novice mode highscores are listed right alongside hell mode (i.e. arcade) on the iOS leaderboards, without any indication as to which mode the scores were achieved using, making them total BS - I suspect that players using these cheats will also be listed on the highscore boards, making them suck ass even harder.

What did Atlus do this gen except for that P4 fighting spinoff and a softcore porno puzzle game?Chaos Phoenixma wrote:Atlus is still good. I wouldn't necessarily rule Cave out either.

If you count handhelds, a whole lot.Bananamatic wrote:What did Atlus do this gen except for that P4 fighting spinoff and a softcore porno puzzle game?

I didn't say that. If you are going to quote me, please do it properly.geremy wrote:There are separate leaderboards for the players using IAP, so no need to worry. ... and that softcore porno puzzle game had a really s***** dub. I gave up on atlus at that pointBananamatic wrote:What did Atlus do this gen except for that P4 fighting spinoff and a softcore porno puzzle game?Chaos Phoenixma wrote:Atlus is still good. I wouldn't necessarily rule Cave out either.

Re: Cave DOJ iOS cheats
That automatically means that WE DO NOT get games from Atlus nearly at all. Meaning counting handhelds is invalid at this point.Bananamatic wrote:unless you live in europeOp Intensify wrote:If you count handhelds, a whole lot.Bananamatic wrote:What did Atlus do this gen except for that P4 fighting spinoff and a softcore porno puzzle game?

Well, the DS/PSP are region free, so I don't see much reason to whine if the games are translated.
Re: Cave DOJ iOS cheats
Why would you want to pay for a "box set" of cheats? You could buy like a thousand games on steam for that price, anyway?
You may as well use the silly no bullet mode on the PS2 port of DOJ, and that even lets you enter your name on the high score table!
