This is out on PSN and will be added to XBL within the next few hours. I'm sure there's at least a few of you here interested.

We kinda got gypped by having all the customization stuff as paid DLC. There's a lot of it, and it's expensive. I remember SEGA saying they wanted to make it all unlockable like in the arcade version, but Microsoft's file size restrictions on XBLA games stopped them. Too bad, but you can get the entire functional game for $15, and that's all I really care about.

I'm pretty impressed by how realistic the KO animations are this time! They're completely overhauled from the original VF5, and they obviously had some talented motion capture work done. I hate to admit it, but I've never gotten around to playing a VF game against another human, aside from the 32X version when I was a kid. So this will probably be a delightfully rude awakening.

Akira is going to be a guest character in DOA5, but no one with any taste should be interested in that game as anything other than a button masher to bring out at parties.

Picked up the game on PSN since I have PS+, it's really great. I've never tried to get technical with a VF game before, and there's quite a bit to wrap my head around just going through the tutorials. I'm mostly a 2D fighter player, so this is a nice change of pace.

I still find it amazing how VF manages to be the most mechanically complex and nuanced 3D fighter out there with just two attack buttons. You'd think they would have updated the layout to 4/5 at some point since the Genesis era, but they've managed to build an incredible amount on top of what they started with.

PSN has an exclusive "complete" version up for download. It costs $30 and it comes with all of the customization DLC. It's only going to be available for two weeks, apparently. There's no such offer for the 360 version, so we will have to pay $45 for everything ($15 for the game, and $15 for each customization pack). :(

Anyway, I'm downloading this now. I have no doubt that this will be the absolute best fighting game this gen.

Yeah, I'll probably get this. It seems stupid not to at that price, and really who cares about the customization equipment anyway.

I've played VF since '94 in the arcade and home, but with all the study coming up I might have to sit out the online competitive side this time.

That's the problem with fighters, you actually have to train hard almost like a real martial art to get anywhere, and keep that training up just to maintain competitiveness, especially with VF.

Just picked this up late last night. I'm loving it and there are actually people playing this game around 3am where I am so that is awesome.

How can anyone say their getting gyped when they are getting a complete game for only 15$? The DLC is just costumes to customize their character... everything in the original purchase is all you need to get started playing.

Never played VF before but enjoying this a lot.. playing Aoi for now. my XBL is Zaarock for any european players out there.

Downloading right now. I'll be so glad to actually get a chance to play VF5 online finally. The old retail version is an absolute ghost town and the lobbies are horrible.

They really did make it look a lot nicer. The character don't look like quite so much like action figures anymore.

The last time I could remember VF characters looking like action figures was the original VF and maybe VF2 if you want to throw that in there as well but since since VF3 the games been looking really nice.

They looked a bit plasticy to me in the retail VF5 but the new stages have much better lighting and that's made a big difference.

hmm.. well now that I think about it VF5 and VF5 FS do look different. I did notice in VF5 that it was quit shinier and FS is a bit grainy but it might be my TV I don't know. Need to pay a bit more attention to the details though.

I did find that the game feels a bit more clunky compared to VF5. Or maybe I just need to get use to the new mechanics and new moves of FS. Though I felt the same way when I played VF4 and then moved to EVO. Evolution was less fluent but more fine tuned you can say.

Anyways regardless I'm just happy that I have a version of VF to play online :)

I can't quite imagine the VF characters looking better than in VF4 EVO at the time. Still my favourite boobs upon real-time-CG ladies, after all these years.
Don't you even ask what I normally carve in brawn leftovers hangin' around.

I've read that they removed chunks of some characters' movesets in FS in the name of balance. I really don't think it had any effect on the game's depth though. Currently playing as Goh, because he's reasonably straightforward, has a strong close-range game and a weird face.

You can unlock Dural by finishing Arcade Mode once--you don't even have to beat her. She's usable in offline/nonranked modes. As always, she's ridiculously broken. You can also switch the music to remixes from almost every other game in the series. I think their treatment of the VF1 tracks is a bit wimpy though.

Any word if this is going to be at EVO?

Must be a lot of first timers online because I'm actually winning matches and I'm officially the worst VF player in the world. Or I was until yesterday.

Hope it keeps up, VF's community is traditionally made up of invincible super-humans.

I'm doing a lot better than I anticipated.

What is funny is that a lot of players I've been playing that play play Street Fighter IV, Soul Calibur V, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, BlazBlue and Tekken regularly are calling this game broken for some reason.

I play these guys regularly in their fighters and when they start playing a fighter I'm a bit more familiar with they call it a cheap ass broken game. It's guys like these who give Virtua Fighter a bad name because they really don't want to dive a bit deeper and learn it. Instead they call foul and suggest some other mainstream fighter.

Yeah there are a lot of people of various skills online, which is nice. I'm still below average but as long as I feel I'm improving (which I definitely do), I have fun playing.. was the same with VOOT for me.

I was looking forward to this, so I rented the old PS3 version to get familiar with the mechanics...

...and I couldn't play for shit. Was getting my ass kicked hard by the CPU. I found myself repeating the same move over and over again with the easiest characters (Sarah and Jacky) to progress, but even then I could only get so far. The game is very difficult to pick up and play, and the in-game tutorial is so barebones it doesn't help at all.

In the end, I returned the game and decided to skip this :? Back to SSF4 I guess.

VF4: Evolution and VF5: FS have a very in-depth, step-by-step tutorial. The vanilla VF5, however, doesn`t.

The game is very deep, but it`s not difficult at all. Stick with it for awhile and you`ll see for yourself.

Yeah the tutorial is nice. The license challenges help too. though if I remember right one of them wants you to get hit by saying "when you're in trouble" which confused me for a couple minutes :oops:

Also this is quite playable on my slightly modded 360-pad because of how the inputs work.. about the only thing I dont get all the time are the crouch dashes.

Isn`t it neat that in order to access the best single-player mode in this game, Special Sparring, you are required to buy all the DLC. :lol:
I got the Complete edition. Wanted all the items and to support Sega too. Although it`s kinda lame that all the item packs still had to be installed separately.

The CPU is a pain in the ass. It's a completely different game against a human but sadly still not particularly accessible. I don't know if I've improved or if FS's CPU seems a bit easier, feels that way anyway.

Why should a fighting game have to be accessible? The most beginner-friendly examples of the genre (Soul Calibur, Mortal Kombat, licensed anime fighters) have always been the most disposable. Isn't it a lot more rewarding when there's no way you can cheese out a win against a good player by mashing buttons or spamming specials?

I'm having the kids play Arcade mode for me and it is much easier than the original VF5.

What I love about VF is that there are no cheesy moments unless the player is going for a ring out lol but other than that though it's always the better player at the moment that wins the match. No BS at all which is great.

No question the VF series has gotten tons of money from me. Was planning on getting this but since the customization packs are not earned, I'm a little weary.

Anyone know of a good 360->PS3 (lagless) converter? I have no wireless on my 360, and no stick on my PS3.
