Good to hear! Finally...we can have the ultimate version...well, the version that should have come out to begin with, I should say.Jonathan Ingram wrote:Sure, unless it`s poorly optimized. But even in that case it should still be possible to brute force smooth framerate with powerful PC hardware.evil_ash_xero wrote:I don't know ANYTHING about PC Gaming...so answer me this, guys...Will this fix the framerate? As far as I know, that stuff is solved with more RAM and faster processors. So, I'm guessing that would fix that. Right?

Oh lord that new content sounds amazing. I always wondered what Atrorias would be like... he fought as Gwyn's champion against the darkwraithes only to turn his back on the Lords in favour of the abyss and Kaathe's plan to find the dark soul. Also Gough, and if the hornet ring guy is in it then that'd be all four knights accounted for. I'm curious about the Oolacile Tomb too. Please tell me this is all coming to consoles as well.

Hopefully this will make the PS3 version price drop a bunch. I just wonder if that extra content will make it to consoles in the future.
In other news, Demon's Souls servers in NA will go offline at the end of May.

Now seriously, I rented Demon Souls a while ago from Game Fly and downed a few bosses and returned it with the intentions of purchasing it at a later time. Then Dark Souls gets released and I buy that and I've just now finished new game+. I was planning on buying Demon Souls next week, but now I'm reconsidering.
Re: Dark Souls- PS3, Xbox 360
Very excited about the PC version, trailer looks great. But I'm extremely disappointed that they're using GFWL. Shit sucks. Course I'll get it anyway, but I ain't happy about it.
Re: Dark Souls- PS3, Xbox 360
It's still very much worth it. I played through Demon's Souls offline and like it even more than Dark Souls. The third act of Boletarian Palace is ridiculously good. If you get on it now you'll still get a short taste of online, and in the end be left with an amazing game that keeps on giving. Besides, I don't think it's more than 20 bucks most places.Gozer wrote:I was planning on buying Demon Souls next week, but now I'm reconsidering.
I am also curious as to whether the PC edition's extras will somehow make their way over to PSN/XBLA. I would suspect it to be so, as paid DLC no doubt. Just the excuse I was looking for to play through the game again. I've got some fond memories of my first romp through ^__^

Yeah, Demon's Souls is great, even without the online. I didn't even bother with the online stuff, when I played it. But if you want that "experience"...act fast!

Re: Dark Souls- PS3, Xbox 360
Online is overrated anyway, Demon's Souls is mainly a single-player game. It's nice for the occasional co-op but you should be beating the levels yourself. Many people became far too dependent on blue phantoms and were unable to survive on their own (I got tired of people asking for my help to beat Maneater and False King).
As for black phantom invasions, they are unlikely to happen at this point since most people moved on to Dark Souls. So this feature of the game is lost already.

Re: Dark Souls- PS3, Xbox 360
Played Demons Souls online after playing through Dark Souls offline. IMHO online kind of ruins the game. Makes everything cluttered, and kills the sense of immersion and isolation.
Re: Dark Souls- PS3, Xbox 360
Was going to get this for the PC but then I found out it is going to use GFWL, not sure anymore.
Why would they ruin this game for PC? Well at least I have the 360 version.

The only thing I'm concerned about is cheating. If there is no anti-cheat, multiplayer could be a very frustrating experience.

Re: Dark Souls- PS3, Xbox 360
There's tons of cheaters that can edit their saves with shit like this
Save data editing. I'm not sure how it's done, but I've experienced it. I actually had the 360 version for a few months and was invaded and killed by someone with infinite stamnia and Dragon Head, basically infinite stun lock until they push you off a cliff or you die. I actually managed to kill one of these cheaters with bleed, since it cuts a percentage of health rather than actual damage.
Also, the framerate is far, FAR worse. I actually experienced Blighttown drop under 5 fps while running through, skipping enemies to get to The Great Hollow. The 360 version also gets updated last, and isn't handled by FROM at all. Also, co-op and invading requires Xbox Gold, so there's barely any activity. It's like playing 1.03 all over again.
Thankfully GFWL doesn't require Gold so online isn't going to be a barren wasteland.

Re: Dark Souls- PS3, Xbox 360
It is going to be a barren wasteland. The GFWL will put off many people from buying this game and they'll just pirate shit outta it. Don't get me started on the pathetic petition to change it to Steamworks, won't work, it's Namco's ultimate decision to use shitty GFWL

Re: Dark Souls- PS3, Xbox 360
This. The 360 version was already crap if you wanted to play online. Not only did you have to pay for the same experience that you could get on the PS3 for free, but the community was also much smaller as most people opted for the PS3 version(the 360 one doesn`t even exist in Japan) and there were cheaters and hackers galore. The GFWL can`t possibly be much worse.Elixir wrote:the 360 version is already way beyond the definition of ruined.

As excited as I am, I pray for DLC, because my PC struggles to run The Witcher(and 2, of course).
If not, well, I'm there.

- mouse and keyboard support (gamepad recommended)
- no difference betwen PS3 and PC versions
- new stories and more NPCs (and new obtainable equipment)
- new bosses and areas that we already knew about
- additional story is based on dark night named Artorias
- Games for Windows Live was requested by Namco Bandai (because they established the servers for the 360 version)
- additional pvp stages planned, not a huge stage but rather a bonus

For those of you with nicovideo accounts, there's a 60 hour Dark Souls Let's Play marathon rebroadcasting:
http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv88756080?ref=nicotop
If it asks you to upgrade to premium (プレミアム会員), just refresh. After this, they're doing 60 hours of Demon's Souls.

Good news for people with the north American version of Demon's Souls
http://www.siliconera.com/2012/05/25/de ... thousands/Atlus was going to pull the plug on the Demon’s Souls servers at the end of May, but the online experience will live on for "the foreseeable future."
"While it originally seemed as though it would be unfeasible for us to continue to sustain the servers, a number of developments have made it possible for us to continue to invest in and support our fans as they have continued to invest in and support us and Demon’s Souls," said Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Marketing and Sales. "For all the gamers who have yet to discover the game’s amazing online experience, we’re happy to say you can still log on and find out why Demon’s Souls is still regarded by many as one of the finest games of all time."
Extending the North American servers again is possible, if Demon’s Souls continues to have server activity and player interest. Demon’s Souls is available for $19.99 as a Greatest Hits title for PlayStation 3.

Awesome. I'll be interested in hearing how substantial the extra content actually is, though by winter I'll probably be ready to play Dark Souls again.

By the by, Demon's Souls US servers are staying up indefinitely.
Rumor is that Sony kept it online because it's still selling, and it's one of the PS3's best exclusives.
Bring on the DLC, From. My Sorcerer is ready.
Is Artorias?

Was excited to see this show up in Steam. But GFWL has no place on my rig.
Have there been any major PC exclusives that use GFWL or is it mostly console games looking for a cheap port?
