Was watching the final last laps of today's Indy 500 race...sad to see Takumo Sato spin out on the very last lap racing against Dario Franchitti for the win. It's all part of competitive racing...you win some and you lose some. It's cool to see Dario win another Indy 500 race, his third one. Dario's team-mate, Scott Dixon was trailing behind all this action and managed to avoid the ensuing crash with split second precision driving skill and cross the finish line in second place. Chalk it up for another 1st & 2nd place win for Team Ganassi any way how you look at it.
Makes me wonder how Danica Patrick would've fared in today's 2012 Indy 500 race if she hadn't left the Indy Car series to focus on the Nascar Nationwide/Sprint Cup series for the 2012/2013 racing seasons. It's been said that she plans to racing a full season of the Nascar Sprint Cup series for the entire upcoming 2013 racing season.
Of course, it ain't the same with the IZOD Indy Car racing series with the loss of fellow Briton Dan Wheldon but at least, he's there in spirit.

If Sato was a little more patient and waited to overtake on turn 3 or 4, the race could've been his.

Yeah, sometimes the best drivers make rash decisions...there's always next year's race but that is a whole another year away. Live and learn. It would've been Sato's first Indy 500 win if he was able to pull it off during the passing of Dario. I'm surprised that Dario was able to save his car and drive to the victory lap in one piece. It certainly could've ended up differently.

Danica would have finished mid pack or in the top 10, and would have had coverage as if she'd lapped the field 10 times over. I'm so glad she's gone to NASCAR, go pout and be pissy over there when you wreck yourself half the time. Although I did enjoy seeing both her and Michael Andretti be babies in the pits when she was on his team.
