I wrote a VST plugin!

Post by louisg »

Hey guys, I wrote a VST plugin called Digits. It's a phase distortion synth, kind of like the old Casio CZ series, it's free, and runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. I figured there are enough musicians around here that might like it :)

Note that if you use Fruity Loops you need to go to the gear wheel in the editor window titlebar, go to the processing tab, and enable "Process Inactive Inputs and Outputs". Yeah, I know it's lame, I need to fix it still.

Be sure to try the presets!
BTW this song uses Digits for everything but the drums (including the strings, but excluding the electric guitar): http://soundcloud.com/extentofthejam/ro ... -final-mix .. and here's a friend's tune that uses it: http://soundcloud.com/amster_girl/test- ... its-vst-by
Humans, think about what you have done

Nice going.

I'll BM this for later, it's been a while since I was into computer music but this and that google moog is tempting me to buying a midi keyboard to replace what was stolen a few years back

Dicked around with it for a little, it makes some nice sounds, but drives the CPU usage sky-high on my netbook, so I couldn't really make a test song [I can't play more than a few notes at a time before the CPU maxes out].

Also, I was trying to get it to work on my big laptop with Renoise [on Linux, Ubuntu 10.04], but Renoise doesn't seem to want to pick it up

I'll see what I can do with this tomorrow [I'll probably use it to make samples, and then use something lighter and comfier for me to work in, like MilkyTracker], it does have a nice tone to it.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
