You know, I just had a dumb idea...you guys should take the machine around to various locations. Might put it at risk a bit but that way you could get some exposure for it, plus quarters in the slot - it pays for itself (eventually...not sure you'll cover the shipping from place to place, but it could be tried).

That's not a bad idea, I just think that constant moving costs would really kill it. But it's definitely something to consider for the future! :)

That is an excellent way to completely destroy our relationship with Taito, so no....sorry.

I'm honestly not trying to be rude here, but A LOT of people have been asking us to dump roms and run with this thing, and that is most definitely NOT going to happen. Taito put a great deal of trust in Adam and I to do the right thing and perform a loc-test for them. The last thing we would do now is dump roms behind Taito's back for emulation purposes.

I am a supporter of arcade preservation through emulation IF the game is of an older age and not actively being played and making money for the company in question. But to take a game that is doing VERY well in Japan and working it's way out here to try and become popular, and just stab Taito in the back and take their work for our own would wreck everything Adam and I stand for in the arcade industry.

I take this all very seriously and I hope you all understand our situation as arcade gamers and owners, that kind of action would be poison for all of us! I feel Taito deserves better from us than that.

Oh yeah, I didn't necessarily mean release the dumps ASAP. Apparently this machine is very rare and the software probably is too. Dumping it for preservation, then maybe releasing the dumps 5 or 10 years down the road would be a nice idea though, and would ensure that the loc-test software doesn't get lost to time, as so many are.

Also, not to be pessimistic, but it's not clear there will be any arcade operations requiring a working relationship with Taito ten years down the road. But you never know. I do agree, there's no harm in dumping the ROMs quietly. You don't have to tell anybody about it, even.

Hello again everyone,

Great news, the Dariusburst machine has been saved and will be at the Game Grid Arcade for a very long time now. We're all very happy to have it here and will continue to enjoy it for the rest of our arcade gaming days! A HUGE thanks again to everyone who helped make this possible! :)

In other news, for those who enjoy the internet show Classic Game Room, the arcade op Adam Pratt was interviewed by Mark Bussler just recently and can be viewed here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPx0l02H ... re=g-all-u

There is also talk of another video review with Mark and Adam, and it will be all about DBAC.
Stay tuned!!

I see the funding effort earlier raised $325 of the requested $8K...so did the operator buy it outright, or what?

Very happy for the news by the way.

Adam was able to acquire a loan for the remainder of the amount.
But still, every bit helped out and we're very happy for the support.

Wow, that's cool to have a permanent home for the DBAC cabinet here in the USA. Any plans to show it at the upcoming California Extreme arcade game show? There's always the 2013 CAX show if it can't be done in time for the 2012 CAX show. I'm sure the moving logistics would be quite a chore/nightmare just get it packed up and shipped out for a two day arcade game show.

Heh, I doubt Adam would want to move this behemoth to another location.
So, sadly no....at least not this year. ;)

Hello All,

Adam has posted an extended answer to the question Mark from CGR asked him about the state of arcade gaming in the US.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aj2eXCiO ... re=g-all-u

Adam felt he should have elaborated more on the question, but being interviewed on the spot, sometimes you don't say what you felt you should have said. :P

This post is still active, so anyone that has any questions, please feel free to ask and I will help with an answer any way that I can. :)

Later,
ProcoTaito
