Why would anyone import an American 360, and the American version of this game, compared to the benefits of importing a Japanese console?

I don't think "comes with the updates already on the disc" is going to cut it.

Why would anyone import any 360 now that RGH (=goodbye region lockout) is available for all revisions of 360?

You still can't go online or download DLC with a glitched 360, or can you ?

Pretty sure not everyone wishes to mod their console.

Also pretty sure that wasn't originally part of the advice given, rather that people should simply buy the US version. Yes, that people in PAL regions should buy the American-only version of RFA, and assumingly just know how to mod their console.

I see little difference between this Reset Glitch Hack (which requires a chip) and a JTAG (which also requires a chip) considering the end result and potential/definite drawbacks are much the same. I certainly wouldn't put one on mine.

And I thought RFA Japan's menus and stuff were all in English anyway? The demo is.

Until recently, importing a JP 360 was basically the only option if you wanted to play all available shmups.

However, I'd say the best gaming setup nowadays is a RGH 360 to get around the idiotic region lockout and play shmups offline, and an unhacked PS3 for mainstream games along with worthwhile exclusives and free online gaming. Optimum outcome.

PS.
Just so we are clear, I am not condoning piracy. I expect people the pay for the games they play, especially if it's niche stuff like shmups, where every sold copy matters. What I don't condone is anti-consumer bullshit like region locking, and I have 0 moral problems with people playing their legitimately acquired games on hacked consoles.

I'm pretty sure you'd end up spending more money that way...

Maybe they're just pushing the date back so it doesnt drop in the same time as Akia Katana. If the company doesn't close it's doors by then it would be beneficial for both games.

Not the best cover version of it I've seen but at this rate who cares so long as it actually comes out.

They've done similar photoshops with the previous companies so I wouldn't hold my breath with that picture.

They won't get it out.

Every other time this game has had slipping release date syndrome it's never appeared. Why would it be any different this time?

For once I agree with Plankytrousers. The PR guy is making things look good for the company to try and delay their (apparently) inevitable collapse. At least we got a response.

If I had the skills to write legal letters I'd make a request that they clarify who holds the rights and to give said rights to Rising Star or a more competent publisher before they go under and we're left with another three years of dead ends. I'm sure there's a formal approach to doing this but I'm not educated in these manners nor am I local to the area ("foriegners scrutinising European publishing strategy? How dare they?"). Maybe the current PR guy for Rising Star might be able to find out a bit more considering his unique position.

SO it's May 22nd and Amazon.de are still displaying the June 1st release date. It's getting a bit close now, what do we think is going to happen?

Is anyone able to get an answer from DTP whether this is coming out? Surely if it was (at this late stage) they could give a firm yes/no if the June 1st date is going to hold rather than a "we hope to release it".

Mayan calendar bollocks, sovereign debt crisis, US deficit ceiling malarkey... basically, we're right on the edge, here. Right on it. Been on it for about four years now. Apparently the Eurozone was on the verge of financial collapse december 2011, and if we all knew how close it actually was - just how close we were to a whole wunch of bankers having to, you know, go out there and find proper jobs - we'd literally go so mad our fragile brains would melt and pour out through our stupid noses.

This game comes out? Actually gets released? I'm thinking it's another pointer towards the end of days.

Still, I'd be happy enough as long as I got a few games in before the quakes hit.

The German dtp-site mentions December 31st as release date: http://www.dtp-entertainment.com/de/gam ... 1&landid=2

I think we've got our answer then because in the process of trying to find the latest info I checked that very site this morning and it was still displaying June 1st 2012, so that date has been changed today and effectively puts an end to any hopes of it getting released now that it's stuck in the familiar perpetual release date postponement cycle.

Taking bets* once again Shmups Forum!

The topic this time: Which will happen first?

A) The Apocalypse!
B) The release of Raiden Fighters Aces!
C) Both! (RFA worldwide domination = Armageddon)

"And yea, fire did rain, and the ground did swell and split, and from the chasm came all the legions of hell; for the end of days had come, and all must perish.

On the positive side, RFA dropped in price, and everyone got a refund of about a quid due to the Amazon pre-order guarantee."

I'm starting to think that this is some sort of scam that they are pulling to either a) somehow keep creditors off of their back b) get their administrator off their back c) appease the developer d) appease their stockholders (if applicable). by continually publicizing release information on their webpage for a game that is not coming out.

And let me emphasize this.

It's not coming out. No, really this time.

I've watched this thread for years I believe and folks, let's face it.

A) Publisher is in administration
B) If they were going to release, they would have done it around Akai Katana to get even a slight sales bump from the mutual effect (since RSG actually markets games)
C) There is no way they're releasing a package 360 shooter after Christmas when the market slumps there every single year.
D) By Christmas, Wii U will probably already be released in Europe, meaning we are already crawling into next-gen.

With this last bit of news, my comrades I feel bad but I must say: it really is over this time. J or US 360 this one.
