Daniel Craig's Bond is basically Dalton's dangerous Bond cranked up to ridiculous levels.
Dalton's problem was coming into the role right after the Moore era, so his serious performance clashed with the goofy Moore elements and made for uneven films. The Living Daylights had everything you'd need to make a superb bond film -back to a cold war setting, Ian Fleming script, dangerous Bond, but then they goof things up by casting freaking Joe Don Baker as the Bond villain!
Not to mention The Living Daylights has an ending joke that aged even more poorly than Rambo III, where Bond's new buddies in the Mujahideen show up late to the orchestra performance bristling with weapons and apologize for being late because they had a little trouble getting through airport security.

Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.
An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.
Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

It was more Pussy Galore and her flying circus I was thinking of.Friendly wrote:Of course, because the story in the book made no sense. In the novel, Goldfinger wanted to steal the gold of Fort Knox using trucks; a logistic impossibility. Since at the time of the movie the US dollar was still backed by gold (until 1971), the plan to irradiate the US gold supplies in order to raise the value of his own gold while destroying the American economy was much more realistic.Skykid wrote:From Russia With Love: Best Bond movie. Well directed by Terence Young (Dr. No, Thunderball), violent and extremely close to the book (something even Goldfinger couldn't get right.)
