Huh. I knew you did a few playthroughs of it, but I didn't think you'd find it THAT good. XDBlackbird wrote:May I recommend Giest's game, Trigonometry Wars 4?

Re: STG of the Month - May/June 2012
I participated at the shooter of the week at motk for a while and it was pretty fun so I approve of this idea.
Eden's Aegis (PC)
Raiden DX (ARC/PS1)
Air Gallet (ARC)
While picking the game at random is fine to me, wouldn't it be better if you just opened up a poll with a few games that got the most votes?

It'd be better voting than STGT, that's for sure.

If it weren't fun, I would have said "the hell with this shit" and not bothered with the review =P.Giest118 wrote:Huh. I knew you did a few playthroughs of it, but I didn't think you'd find it THAT good. XD
Crimzon Clover is great, but I didn't recommend it because not everyone has it and it might be difficult to obtain.

Man, I've been trying to find a Cybattler PCB for like half a year now. Would be a very cool choice.
As for my picks...
R-Type II
Pulstar
Last Resort
Because those types of games don't get much representation nowadays here. And that's a darn shame in my opinion.

Raiden Fighters
Xeno Fighters R
Solid State Survivor
Are you fussy about emulation accuracy issues other than speed when mentioning MAME games? The only known issue left with video in the Seibu SPI driver to my knowledge is some cases of alpha transparency which has no effect on the gameplay, and the sound's missing a few channels.
The other two mentioned are PC games and are more than accessible.

I guess it's because MAME crashes on it and the PS1 versions are severely messed up on their difficulties.DoubleThink wrote:RayStorm (high score table has barely ever been touched)

Re: STG of the Month - May/June 2012
This is an awesome idea and I'd be well up for it!
Having a whole month to learn and compete in a game would be awesome.
My ideas:
1. Great Mahou Daisakusen/Dimahoo
2. Touhou 11: Subterranean Animism
3. R-Type Leo (for the old school charm)

Thunder Dragon 2, Twin Cobra 2, Akai Katana.
For most of us here, the last one is new, so now is the easiest time to find it and the playing field might be a little more level.

Re: STG of the Month - May/June 2012
k, Voting is done.
I took each entry and gave it a spot on a spreadsheet in order (minus Akai Katana because I said no 360 games since not everyone has access to them). Any duplicate votes were given duplicate spots on the spreadsheet (i.e. Dimahoo was #8, 23, 32, 35... you get the idea). I went over to random.org, gave it a range of 1 to 101 (total number of "entries"), and hit the button 25 times for shits and giggles.
The STG of the Month for May/June 2012 will be DonPachi. Threads will be posted in High Scores and Strategy subforums momentarily. Feel free to bitch about this random selection in this thread. =)
Let's have a great month (and some change) and push each other to do our best!

Lol, I hate DonPachi. CAVE games should be banned from this kinda thing imo, but whatever.

As far as older Cave games go, Donpachi is probably the least played and understood so I think it's a really good choice.
Also everyone should note that the versions have notable differences so make sure you use the Japanese one.
