Fuck yeah -- so much I'm going to start a thread.
Get on that shit.
(Not much to post about really other than pseudo-intellectual ramblings about the
obviously superior smokey, peaty, and almost medicinal- not to mention tarry, charred oak-like character of Islay scotches as opposed to the more flowery\honey\wine-barrel flavor of the Highlands...

)
Just send me a link.....heh!

Personally, I'm on whiskey now, and I'll be fucked if it's not an expensive "hobby".

Ahhhh - lovely. This is my standby, when no cask strength Lagavulin is around.

When I worked at a bike shop in the South Loop of Chicago, there was a fancy as hell liquor store around the corner and I use to do work for bottles of good single malt. Got turned onto a lot of good stuff: Ardbeg, Bowmore, Laphroig, Balvenie (Double Cask), Oban, etc. Laphroig was the first Islay I tasted and it was love at first sip.
We obviously have similar taste in whiskys...among other things...
Ardbeg and Laphraoig are especially my faves...Bowmore was a nice surprise - a GREAT whisky for it's low price...usually the 10yr is $20-$25 here in STL...unless you're at an expensive wine merchant or some shit.
Once at a local big chain joint I found an 18 year Lagavulin mis-priced at...get this...
.$13.49!
Dude.
Maybe I'll bring a *small* nip for us late in the evening at Bob's meet....hmmmm
Now, to get back on topic....
