Super-Dimensional Alien Entity!

Post by JBC »

Heh... i thought you guys might appreciate this. It's just a work-in-progress of course. I still have to finish all the detail and background and then start on the coloring. It'll probably take me another week or so...

Here's a link to a much larger version of the pic...

Here's a finished charachter design. I call this guy Katakis - after an old game named after an old metal musician. I try to go for a 90's comic book style with my stuff. I always loved using halftone for shading.

sir, you must pardon my use of 1337 to describe this, but Abodox the demon kicks serious 4$$. It's make me thing of some sort of invisible horror that can only be seen with an infrared scope. Imagine a survival horror point an click with that theme. I'll be scared silly.
This causes to me a sensation of badness. - Stormwatch

I wish I could draw as well as you. I need to practice more, perhaps take an art class...do you take an art class or did you learn all on your own?
The radio said, "No, John. You are the demons."
And then, John was a zombie.

I believe that that officially qualifies as the best compliment my art has ever recieved.

I started collecting comics when i was six (in 1987) beginning with a Silvestri issue of Uncanny X-Men i found in a KB Toy store. That comic changed my life with its sex and violence. I decided at that moment that i wanted to grow up to become a comic book artist. Well - i haven't ever published anything yet (neither have i grown-up lol) but i still make comics all the time. I never took a real class - like with the guitar - i've just been teaching myself by copying techniques other people do that i like.

I love the design of it's head - the first pic, that is. I think i once saw this Pioneer Audio commercial on tv and there was an alien in it with a 'T' shaped head. I remember it looked really unsettling to me and so i tried to think up a design similar to that (except without the cheesy space-suit and cloak and such). I couldn't ever get it quite right until now. I played Alien Crush i think and that's when it hit me. That wierd alien head on the first board inspired this a bit.
