non-japanese people who wish they were born japanese.

makes me wonder if there's people who wish they were born ponies...
How the hell did someone come up with that name.... weeaboo. I don't get it.

Is there some bizzare term that is for non asian dudes who ONLY date (or wish they could get a date to begin with) asian chicks?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

The word itself doesn't mean anything. It's from this Perry Bible Fellowship strip.

It's called Yellow Fever. Racist, but somehow appropriate.

The term weeaboo came from 4chan after there was so much bashing of teen Japanophiles that the moderators switched all instances of slurs to the word 'weeaboo', after the comic strip BIL linked.

It then became the internet de facto term for extreme Japanophilia.

The original term was "Wapanese", for wanna-be Japanese. And who can blame them; Japan has a lower per-capita volume of Nascar fans than here.

How is he going to pony heaven if he's not one? Did he even think about that?

Maybe not born a pony, but it would definitely be fun to be one for a couple days. Who wouldn't want to be a Pegasus and fly around, or have telekinetic magic? It would be so fun. Sort of along the same lines it would be fun to switch gender for a few days, just for the novelty and experience of something new. Of course, this is impossible, so it's neither here nor there =P.

I'm definitely going to have to check out Avatar. I keep hearing good things about it, and that frame that was posted a few pages back looked pretty cool.

I get it, this a forum of bloody lazy analphabets.

The study that njiska posted a few pages ago basically reports that the following, and other stuff:

1. Bronies are on average 21, and in college;
2. They mostly like the show because it's all about friendship and harmony among people;
3. They grew up without a father or without harmony in the family (see 2);
4. They don't really date;
5. A staggering 86% is male;
6. They tend to be extrovert, and bronyism is one, but not the only way they use to socialize;
7. They care little about being "masculine", so they'd rather watch MLP than shag and fight while drunk;
8. They're less prone to stress, depression, negative emotions than non-bronies;

So, on average bronies are male virgins who didn't see the original show (no nostalgia), nerdy (I mean, college, wtf, that's liberal!). They see in the show something they missed in life, and like the upbeat, "all friends now!" style of the cartoon, and stress less about bullshit than, say, me. 99% are likely WASPs or at least westerners, as the sample is from US, "Europe" (no states specified), and Australia.

There's a more in-depth analysis of the different sub-groups, but you guys go and read it.

Blackbird: your comment about being a pony for a day, at 3 am, makes me almost invoke eugenics. But I digress, and the late hour makes me have dark thoughts that will disappear in a few hours, I hope.

EDIT: added point 8, stuff.
"The only desire the Culture could not satisfy from within itself was one common to both the descendants of its original human stock and the machines [...]: the urge not to feel useless."

No, but we do have pachinko fanatics, horse racing dorks, boat-race scum, wannabe Americans, fake Euro trash, wimpy motorcycle gangs, and scores of people who wear glasses with no lenses. Even tradeoff if you ask me. At least with the Nascar fans you may get some free beer, barbeque, and a few hits off the methamphetamine pipe.

The Church of Celestia offers salvation AND pony-fication in one package. Scientology's got nothing on it.

But seriously, WTF. Ponies or not, that dude/dudette needs help. Bad.

You're sure granting a lot of leeway to a guy who has ponies on his work desk and sees nothing abnormal about this public display.
Fuck man.

I mean seriously. F-u-c-k m-a-n.

I can understand that maybe some people enjoy watching the show as a casual fan of cartoons or whatever (I don't get it personally. I tried watching an episode to see what it's all about.)

But there is just no excuse for that. Each one of those dudes is just asking for a swift kick in the nuts. How fucking awkward to have to witness that. Even from the confines of my computer desk I'm blushing for these people.

While I certainly agree those guys should learn to sing better (I myself only lasted like five seconds or so before I closed the video), and not treat the song of a show like some sort of ceremonial chant that must be repeated before a gathering to celebrate that which they are fans of, it's nothing illegal or that has caused physical harm and national embarrassment as a result of the actions of such fans. Or anything that affects me or my livelihood all the way here to Arizona.

Pretty sure it's not the quality of their singing that's being questioned tbh.

So, it's their public engaging in a harmless activity that may be judged/misjudged by others who just aren't (justifiably) used to or comfortable seeing it?.

Or, that gender-based preconceptions are being challenged?

No offense intended to anyone. Just using these as examples of something that may cause a few eyebrows getting raised due to its unusual (to an outsider) qualities.

I'm sure you've noticed this, but non-bronies don't care about the "challenging gender roles" or "it's harmless" arguments.

But here's the badass thing: You don't need to justify it to anyone. So don't.
