I had a great time with the first Pixeljunk Shooter even though I never beat it...
Might as well get the second with the discount so that I tackle both of them some time. If it's as good as the first it's totally worth it.

Tried it today and was thoroughly unimpressed with the floaty controls and bland visual style. Also tried the newest pj game "sidescroller" and there is discernible input lag, which is pretty inexcusable for a game that demands tight timing. Soldnerx also had that issue too. I don't know what it is with the ps3 and STGs. :x

A lag-free display helps a lot. Make sure your TV-set doesn't add several frames of lag.

I did. I use the same hdmi a when I play all of my x360 shmups and there is no lag in those. The only thing the ps3 has in common amongst its shmups I have played is they are not made by experienced developers. So the conclusion has to be bad coding that makes for bad controls.

Pixeljunk shooter doesn't have bad controls at all IMO.
It controls like a charm for me.

Well, the first level I played had floaty controls and I can't stand that. I want to change direction at precisely the moment I choose to.

It doesn't have floaty controls. The problem is your display. Maybe the 360 shmups have so little inernal lag that the added lag of your TV-set doesn't matter, while Pixeljunk Shooter has more internal lag which when added to your TV's lag becomes noticable. Solution: Get a lag-free display.

No, I've done side-by-side CRT tests when i bought the tv and being musically inclined I'm sensitive to timing delays, etc. You and I may disagree what constitutes floaty, but you basically made my point stating the 'internal' lag difference between pjs and cave games. That's all I'm referring to.
