Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
Only 16 without hints. Damn. I guess being young I had quite a limited library, though. Still. There were a lot I kinda recognized, but couldn't place. A lot more that seemed to be from some RPG but they kinda run together in my mind.
The freaks are rising through the floor.

Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
26 without hints. I feel great shame. Though I do have to point out that the game has odd rules about what it accepts. Donkey Kong Country was all that needed to be entered for DKC2, but Streets of Rage 2 needed to be entered in its entirety.

Got 54 with hints. The spelling of Aero the Acro-Bat annoyed me.

Got 83 with all the hints. Some of the games they put in there are really crap though, it could have been a much better quiz.

66/93 with all hints. Pretty good, I didn't grow up with Nintendo though

I'll tell you what ISN'T in the quiz: Landstalker or Toejam and Earl II (which is shameful considering some of the crap here).

21 with hints, before resorting to using google to help make sense of those hints.
Why the hell are like half of these shitty licensed games?

Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
Once I started seeing the pics I got a lot more. This is as far as I can get though.

Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
87/93 with hints. Of the three I'm missing, one I've no clue (same one you're missing from the top row, Ruldra), the other I rented but can't remember the name of (I once wondered if I'd dreamed it...), and the last is that shitty football game my cousin had that apparently had three names, but I can't recall any of them.
I didn't actually play many games at all during the 90s, but I read magazines pretty obsessively so I could get most on screenshots. It's more "were you an 8/16-bit Nintendo and Sega gamer in the early 90s" really. Surprised the PS1 wasn't featured at all considering its prominence in the latter half of the decade.
edit: bahaha. Okay, so of those three names, the one I remembered correctly wasn't accepted.

Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
The ones I didn't get were the soccer game - could be anything really and I tried all I could think of - the racing one, something that looks like The Pagemaster but isn't, that weird puzzle game which I can see the cover of but can't remember the name, a platformer that uses mouse controls and that red alien that fights raccoons on the MD. Amongst others.BIL wrote:87/93 with hints. Good quiz, really needs better games tho.

Got about half right off, got most of the rest with hints, finally got the last few with all hints+trivia+screenshot+google. I don't know where the hidden questions are though...? Too bad this forum doesn't have spoiler tags.

Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
I'm not quite the game master I thought I was, but I'm pretty damned close. I wish I knew the last three games...
The only ones I'm missing:
- Some Mickey Mouse game I've never played.
- Some soccer game I've never played.
- Some F-1 Game I've never played.

Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
I think you need to collect all emeralds before the secret questions show up. They are hidden inside the pics (one in Sunset Riders, other in Robocod, another in Shapes n Columns).nZero wrote:I don't know where the hidden questions are though...?
The F-1 game is Super Monaco GP. The one with Mickey is World of Illusion.Samurai Fox wrote:I wish I knew the last three games...

Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
Nah, found all of those already, the hints were really easy. I did find a secret question in Chuck Rock while I was browsing the trivia.Ruldra wrote:I think you need to collect all emeralds before the secret questions show up. Edit - Okay found the other two, they're both hinted at in the trivia for Sonic the Hedgehog. 100% (ending spoiler)!

Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
There are some surprisingly obscure games in here, haha! Not enough Raiden either
.

Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
30 without hints, 76 with hints and I googled the other 16. Still missing one secret question.

I got 40, but I couldn't get any of the non-Megadrive ones without pictures
Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
I gave up because I did not know shit.
It's no surprise, I played games actively from 1985 to 1991, and got fed up with them for many years, until 1999.

Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
The SNES had a better video chip that could do some pretty fast stuff, but a slower main processor. It's maybe arguable to some degree since it's possible that the processor in the SNES does more per cycle than the Genesis (perhaps evidenced by games like the Wolf 3d port). But, given the general performance of its games combined with the fact that the processor is literally half the clock of the Genesis, it seems likely that it's slower at most tasks.
I also don't remember the SNES being very relevant anymore in 1995!

Humans, think about what you have done
Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
It was for me, at least through '96. Yoshi's Island didn't even come out until late '95.louisg wrote:I also don't remember the SNES being very relevant anymore in 1995!
Re: Were You a Nineties Gamer?
It was for jRPG fans, with games like Chrono Trigger, Tenchi Souzou (Terranigma), Seiken Densetsu III, Fire Emblem Thracia 776, Super Mario RPG, Harvest Moon, Star Ocean among others. Plus DKC2 and DKC3 were good, at least for the nice music.louisg wrote:I also don't remember the SNES being very relevant anymore in 1995!
