Anyone have Cave pcbs on a route? Or on loan in a Arcade?
Re: Anyone have Cave pcbs on a route? Or on loan in a Arcade?
From what I have gathered a game like Espgaluda would serve better to the gaming public on a route or Arcade?
I was considering Deathsmiles as well.
I was considering Deathsmiles as well.
A Hardcore gamers reaction to the Lack of Kinect games. Apparently i could of played Dodonpachi with it if i beat a entirely in Japanese Visual Novel piece of shit game called Instant Brain

EspGaluda (the first one) is very newbie-friendly. You get 4 bombs per life (or you can charge them to wipe out a boss form quickly or protect the other person in co-op) in addition to the option of stocking up kakusei gems for survival use and the first three stages really aren't that bad. There's also a tutorial every time you start the game that shows you the mechanics, including where the hitbox is located on your character (even though it's in Japanese it's not hard to understand what's going on), although you can skip it if you like. Difficulty ramps in stage 4, but it's still a fairly easy clear compared to other arcade shmups. It's also satisfying to replay it for score even if you've beaten it, albeit that's quite a bit tougher as scoring is heavily dependent on not getting hit and losing your multiplier.
EspGaluda II seems to be quite a bit tougher though. The bullet patterns early on are not nearly as forgiving.
Deathsmiles is also supposed to be a good game as far as being an accessible shmup, thanks to the selectable difficulty/routes.

ESP ra.de is the only Cave shmup i'd pay to play.
These later releases would scare the shit out of a walker by.

I think that if you show then someone playing it they may not be so scared by the amount of bullets. I mean, most of the time on Cave games is just herding the bullets and know how to manipulate then. If you prove it, then players should lose their fear for the swar of bullets.neorichieb1971 wrote:ESP ra.de is the only Cave shmup i'd pay to play.

It's specially easier in Espgaluda, since you can use Kakusei to make hard parts easier.

I currently have R-Type Leo and Muchi Muchi Pork on loan to an arcade in London. They can borrow anything else they want too.

Having it on location with a private instructor will defeat the purpose.O. Van Bruce wrote:I think that if you show then someone playing it they may not be so scared by the amount of bullets. You'd best head down to Casino arcade then. We've got it installed there right now!neorichieb1971 wrote:ESP ra.de is the only Cave shmup i'd pay to play.

Ya, few years back we would let them borrow Futari and Mushi; I think Khoa was the only one who played them there though.Elixir wrote:That would highly rely on local interest. Pretty much impossible to judge?
I think SFKhoa or jonny5 did this once.

I've actually never even been to that arcade to be honest.

What's with this ddp 1-4 obsession, are you confused? 1-5 is the hard one.
But seriously galuda is unarguably profoundly easy until the last couple attacks from the final boss and doj, WL especially, is not beginner friendly in any sense of the idea. Especially if you consider ddp 1-4 a wall.

To an extent, I kinda agree with him on DDP 1-4 vs. 1-5.
I've never made it to 1-5 with any extra lives left on the very few credits of DDP I've ever played, and yet I've made it to the boss (before promptly getting trashed). The stage doesn't really seem to live up to its reputation; pick C-L, stay off the bottom, stream back and forth forever. 1-4 absolutely murders me, thanks to those fucking tanks that shoot the circular pattern with the narrow pink lines right underneath them that trap you if you try to get under them to actually kill them. Then, in the second half of the stage, the second big-ass plane doesn't die if I don't bomb, since all of the ground-popcorn protects him.

For those of you who have loaned out pcbs to an arcade, how did you go about it? What is the etiquette? Do I need to ask them for a cut or should I just loan the pcb out to them for free? Also, did they come back to you okay after (how long of a period did you loan them out for?) I'm thinking of approaching the owner at Alex's Arcade in SoCal which is mostly a fighting game place, but they have cabinets of all kinds, I play Strikers 1945 when I can there after playing many many Dan matches (YEAH DAN IS THE MAN). I was thinking of offering Progear, Espgaluda, or Illvelo: Illmatic Envelope!

I seriously considered taking one of my cabs to the pizza place my friend works at just to make some space. If it made money that would just be a bonus.
Then I looked more closely into it and it turns out you need a license and all that bullshit. So that was the end of that.

burgerkingdiamond really? You need a license to put in a cabinet somewhere? Can't you just plop it in there? I doubt any official would waste the time on it/notice. DOOOOO IT! How cool would it be to unlock the cash box lock, and pull out all those wondrous quarters. Dang, I'd even wear one of those retractable key chains to put the candy cab keys on. I used to hang out in an arcade all day and just marvel at how the arcade manager could at will take cash out/play games and put credits on machines he wanted to play.
I swear, having candy cabinets/xbox 360's in them/pcbs...I love it everytime I open the candy cabinet up to flip it on. Last night I went to Alex's Arcade and won some SFIV:AE matches with Dan, then when I got home I fired up my candy cabinet and played some online matches with Dan.
I'm lovin' it.

Well you do make a good point that in reality who's really gonna give a shit..
I ended up decided to give the unwanted cab to a friend. So it's not really an issue anymore.
