For those of you who didn't know, Icarus has been beta testing some of the software elements of CAVE's steam integration. He was just allowed to go public about it last night.

He said there's an Ibara/watered down Ketsui version coming to test the waters

I bet theirs a cave game without girls in it coming out too.

Details on Ketsui port:
1. Reduced difficulty, particularly on 1-4 and 1-5
2. Variable rank system that makes the game easier when when you die
3. Ura loop requirements relaxed to be the same as tsujo (or w/e it's called) loop
4. Tsujo loop requirements are just 1cc
5. Easier version of Doom appears at the end of the tsujo loop


Also, the reason CHI has the 5th boss up with full lives is that Icarus had access to a debugged version so he could test all the stages etc. so he could choose to start at boss 5, choose his lives etc.

We also found some interesting things to do with more than one TLB

I wish I were more excited, but I'm really not a fan of having to have a third party DRM application with a history of memory leakage running in order to play a game I bought.

But this does make me seriously tempted to reinstall Steam.

Wait, is this a true port with a "Novice" arrange that has these reduced difficulty changes or have they stripped the original difficulty out of the game? If it's the latter case, you might as well just tell people to buy a copy to support Cave and then emulate a proper version of Ketsui.

Sure is a coincidence that he just so happened to choose everything the same as in that video, right down to the rank and the score!

Even if CAVE's planning on releasing games on Steam, it could get cancelled before they see the light of day anyways.

Or they could end up regionlocked to Japan or riddled with bugs or something. Cautiously optimistic, but not excited until I actually see a proper set of releases.

You guys know that Icarus was one of the people RSG had help from with the Akai Katana port, right?

How do you think he got those games on his list? Where do you think all the gameplay videos on the RSG game page came from? They came from him. He's one of their official outside of Japan testers. I've literally SEEN the messages on his computer he got from RSG, cause at first I didn't believe it either.
